“The ugliest Ugg slippers she could find:” Meryl Streep’s Iconic Character Made Oppenheimer Star Mock Director

Meryl Streep’s Iconic Character Made Oppenheimer Star Mock Director

When we talk about the Hollywood industry in general, more than the titles and stories of the films we’ve watched, what comes to our minds is the faces of the stars that were featured in those films, which is an indicator of the legacy they can leave behind. Meryl Streep was able to prove this by creating a name for herself that almost none of her peers could come close to.

And even to this day, there are few who can come close to rivaling her iconic presence in the film business. As a matter of fact, she has portrayed some of the most iconic roles in iconic films, which are talked about to this day, which is the reason why this star couldn’t help but compare Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan to Streep’s most popular and recognizable character from one of her superhit films when she saw a similarity between them.

The surefire way of making someone instantly recognize you with just a glance is to make yourself known for something, and in the film industry, that translates to portraying a character and. making it iconic in the eyes of the audience. Hollywood legend Meryl Streep has managed to do just that with her acting in some of the most popular films, whether it be critically acclaimed classics or commercial blockbusters. And among them, the role of Miranda Priestly remains one of her most iconic, who is also surprisingly similar to filmmaker Christopher Nolan in this one aspect.

During a recent interview, Emily Blunt, the actress who plays the role of Kitty Oppenheimer in Nolan’s recent masterpiece Oppenheimer, opened up about the instance when she felt like the filmmaker gave her Miranda Priestly vibes. During the shoot, when Nolan was prepping up, he happened to look down at the actress’s footwear, which was a pair of boots. When she noticed him looking at them, she felt as if Priestly was looking at them with a distaste for her fashion sense, which is relatable as she was in The Devil Wears Prada with Streep. In the interview, she said:

“It was like a scene from The Devil Wears Prada, Chris just looks down at your shoes, and it’s like Meryl Streep is looking at your horrible fashion choice. I just thought, ‘I’ll never be seen dead in Ugg boots around him again.'”

Thus, when it was time to wrap up the principal photography schedule, she mocked him by gifting him “the ugliest Ugg slippers [she] could find.”
