PlayStation held its latest State of Play conference where the gaming giant focused on some of the smaller upcoming titles available on their platforms. While this mini-event mainly focused on indie and third-party games as well as the PlayStation VR2 headset, there were also some announcements concerning AAA first-party exclusives.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Finally Has a Release Date
The final announcement at this month’s State of Play event, (but definitely it’s biggest), is the concrete release date for the much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The second part of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII remake will be released on February 29, 2024, exclusively for PS5.

The official release trailer also revealed that much like the first part of the remake, and the original game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth would be split over 2 separate discs.
Spider-Man 2 Gets a New Gameplay Trailer, With A Spectacular Number of Suits You Can Unlock.
In this latest gameplay trailer, the team over at Insomniac show off more of Spider-Man 2’s expanded New York setting (with both Queens and Brooklyn now accessible) and the seamless switching between Spider-Men. The biggest announcement in this trailer is that players will have access to over 65 different suits, that include original and classic comic-book designs.
Another trailer showed off the ten unique suits available on launch for those who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition of the game. These suits include the Marvel 1602-inspired Stone Monkey Suit for Peter and the Tokusatsu suit for Miles based on the 1970s Japanese Spider-Man TV show.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC and PlayStation VR2 Mode Gets Release Windows
Fans of the Resident Evil 4 Remake will be excited to hear that there is new content on the way for the third-person Zombie Suplex ‘em up. The DLC Separate Ways will release on September 21st being the first piece of paid post-launch content for the game.
Set during the events of Resident Evil 4, players control Ada Wong, who as always is off doing spy stuff in the background while Leon is chased by infected.

Along with the DLC announcement we also got a winter launch window for the Resident Evil 4 PS VR2 mode. While there had been confirmation a VR mode was in development for the critically acclaimed game, until today news has been scarce. Capcom unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer along with confirmation that the mode will be free to download.
Sony Unveils PS5’s Deep Earth Collection Introduces New Faceplates and DualSense Colours
Sony unveiled some new faceplates and accessories as part of their ‘Deep Earth Collection’. This new line of products offers three colours,(Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver), to customise your console with.
The red and blue faceplates and DualSense controllers will arrive on November 3rd, while the silver colour for both will be available on January 26th, 2024.
Roblox for PS4 Gets A Release Date
After an announcement last week that Roblox was coming to PlayStation consoles soon, Sony revealed that the PS4 version of the game will arrive on October 10th and will include cross-platform support.
Helldivers 2 Gets a Release Date and New Gameplay Trailer
After being originally announced in May Arrowhead Game Studios, has finally given a release date for the sequel to the 2015 bug-blasting space exploration shooter. Helldivers 2 is set to be released on PS5 and PC on February 8th, 2024.
Bandai Namco’s Tales of Arise is Getting an Expansion in November
After two years since it’s original release Bandai Namco has announced that RPG, Tales of Arise, is getting a brand-new expansion.
While it may be a surprise to see a two-year-old game get a full-fledged piece of DLC, Beyond the Dawn will be released on November 9th with promises from producer Yusuke Tomizawa that the new story is “enormous,” with over 20 hours of new gameplay.
Splatoon-like Foamstars is Getting an Open Beta
Square Enix announced that its colourful shooter Foamstars is getting an open beta. The beta will be available on PS5 and will be available from September 29 to October 1. The Foamstars beta will be playable on both PS5 and PS4, giving players access to eight unique characters and two game modes to get stuck into.
Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord Has A PlayStation VR2 Release Date
Developer nDreams has announced a perfect Halloween(ish) release date for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, of October 26th. Players will have the chance to play solo or with up to three friends as they try and “stop the powerful Ghost Lord and his band of malevolent ghosts from causing chaos,” on the streets of San Francisco.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Gets a Brand New Story Trailer
Ubisoft gave players a glimpse at their upcoming open-world movie tie-in game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. As one of the last members of the Sarentu clan, players will take control of a Na’vi who was abducted by the RDA and trained in “human ways.”
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks to have all the classic attributes Avatar fans will want from a game based around the franchise, including being able to bond with Pandora’s native animals, the horse-like Pa’li, and the flying beast Toruk. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has a release date of December 7th.

Honkai Star Rail was originally released back in April 2023, but an appearance at this State of Play confirms that a PS5 version of the game is set to pull into the station on October 1st. With turn-based combat and gameplay elements carried over from HoYoverse’s previous action RPG Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail will be a must-add to any JRPG player’s library on release.
