Harrison Ford is one of the greatest actors in the industry. The legendary American actor first rose to fame back in 1977 for portraying the iconic role of Han Solo in the original Star Wars movie series. Ford is one of the most established actors in the industry, having received multiple awards throughout his career spanning over 5 decades.
Ford once shared the screen with one of the greatest actors of this generation, Brad Pitt, back in the 1997 movie, The Devil’s Own. The movie, which everyone was looking forward to, eventually turned out to be a failure as there was allegedly no script for the movie.
Brad Pitt talked about his experience while filming The Devil’s Own
Back in 2011, Brad Pitt appeared in an interview and talked about why The Devil’s Own was tough filming for the actor. In the movie, Pitt portrayed the role of Francis “Frankie” McGuire, who was Irish. The actor did not have any prior experience doing an Irish accent, so it was quite tough to play that role as it is. On top of that, there was no actual script in the movie. When the interviewer asked, “A lot of the movie [The Devil’s Own] was made up on the fly, right?” Pitt said,
“All of it, man. The [shoot took] seven months. It should have been three months. The experience taught me how ludicrous it could be throwing money at a problem. But I met Gordon Willis, one of the great [cinematographers], and it was my first attempt at an accent that was truly foreign to me. Still, I think the movie could have been better. Literally, the script got thrown out.“
Despite it being a tough movie to shoot, Pitt further added, “I really like The Devil’s Own. It was a good schooling for me.”
Harrison Ford revealed more details about the plot and filming of The Devil’s Own
In a recent interview with Esquire, Harrison Ford talked about a lot of movies and his experiences throughout his career. The Raiders of the Lost Ark actor also revealed some details about why The Devil’s Own was a difficult movie to make. He said,
“Brad developed the script. Then they offered me the part. I saved my comments about the character and the construction of the thing—I admired Brad. [Drumming.] First of all, I admire Brad. I think he’s a wonderful actor. [Thump.] He’s a really decent guy. But we couldn’t agree on a director until we came to Alan Pakula, who I had worked with before but Brad had not. Brad had this complicated character, and I wanted a complication on my side so that it wasn’t just a good-and-evil battle. And that’s when I came up with the bad-shooting thing.”

As they had already thrown out the script for the movie, the actors allegedly struggled to agree on one plot. Despite the difficulty in filming and the lack of a script, Harrison Ford said, “I like the movie very much. Very much.”
