Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been a huge proponent of portraying, as well as starring in the upcoming DC Extended Universe endeavor, Black Adam. However, people on the internet are starting to grow wary of his shenanigans, as many have claimed that the actor/former wrestler has a massive ego, which might break the DCEU apart. Whether that’s true or not, a new Instagram post made by the Black Adam actor is generating quite the traction, as the fans were given the means to substantiate their ends. Apparently, the actor is hellbent on wanting a “Black Adam DC Universe.”
The Rock Wants A “Black Adam DC Universe”
In a latest Instagram post, the Black Adam actor talked about the end-credits scene of the DC League of Super-Pets. Don’t worry, we’ll spare you the headache of unwanted spoilers. However, elaborating on the sequence, the actor made a callback to his earlier statements; how he wishes to see Black Adam and Superman fight against each other.
What is surprising about that is how the character of Black Adam serves primarily as the anti-thesis to Shazam!, otherwise known as Captain Marvel. Many pointed out that the actor’s need to make his character the center of DCEU’s endeavors is egotistical. His statement started getting traction from longtime enjoyers of the DCEU when the actor mentioned the following in his post:
“We have major plans to build out the BLACK ADAM DC UNIVERSE and now the DC SUPER PETS UNIVERSE with our partners.”
Some of the fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment; some stated how this is just a repeat of what occurred during the aftermath of the Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw (2019) release.
Tyrese Gibson May Have Been Right About What He Said About The Rock
As pointed out by a fan on Twitter, Tyrese Gibson may have been right about the former wrestler all along. Back in 2019, following the release of Hobbs and Shaw, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, who were seen reprising their roles from the Fast & Furious franchise, Gibson had a jab to make at The Rock. In an Instagram post, he had the following to say about the spin-off tanking at the box office:
“I have to show my respects for one thing. He tried. Folks called me a hater. And attacked me for speaking out. Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value that one would assume it does.”
Tyrese Gibson is not the only one who has had a series of disagreements with the former pro-wrestler. Previously, actor Vin Diesel, who’s a frontrunner in the Fast & Furious films, was also involved in a longtime feud with The Rock, which nearly broke the franchise. While the question of whether or not Gibson’s remarks or Diesel’s beef was justified is up to personal interpretations, it might be obvious to many that Dwayne Johnson is taking a similar approach when it comes to the DC Extended Universe.
What The Fans Said On Twitter
What has been building up for a while now is how DC fans feel about the former wrestler, and his antics regarding the franchise. To say they are unamused by the actor’s statements would be an understatement. Many claimed that Warner Bros. side-lining their A-List characters for a Black Adam DC Universe, as the actor emphasized, would be “hilarious.” Some even commented on how he might be the sole reason why Henry Cavill may not be making a return to the franchise. Following is what they had to say:
Whether The Rock truly is keen on wanting all the egotistical limelight on himself is up to the fans and the audience’s interpretations. However, what can be attested to is that the enjoyers of DC are getting worn down by the former wrestler’s actions and statements.
On a lighter note, DC’s Black Adam is set for a 21 October 2022 release and will be playing in your nearest theatres.
