Robert Pattinson is well known for starring in The Twilight Saga, which was highly appreciated by the fans. Pattinson is acclaimed as one of the most handsome faces in the world and is well known for his sharp features. He began his career by starring in the hit franchise Harry Potter where he played the role of Cedric Diggory. The Maps to the Stars actor opened up about the unrealistic male beauty standards present in Hollywood.
It became a huge upheaval when women fought for body positivity. Several actresses themselves have shared their extreme diet journey to be in shape to get cast by directors. This eventually affects the public sentiment, who too tried to mimic their favorite stars and end up in self-harm by following unhealthy diets. But no one ever talked about body positivity for the male demographic. The male actors are also required to be in ideal shape to run their careers, but that case has been pretty much untouched. But it looks like The Batman star has decided to be the voice of men across the globe by sharing his diet journey.
Robert Pattinson’s Extreme Diet
The Remember Me star shared his harmful practices just to have the so-called ideal man shape to film his projects. The pressure to maintain a perfect body increases even more for actors like Pattinson who are known across the globe for their charming looks. In an interview, The Batman star made some shocking revelations by exposing his extreme diet as he was questioned about the already set notion of men’s looks, in which many struggle to fit.
“It’s very, very easy to fall into that pattern as well, even if you’re just watching your calorie intake, it’s extraordinarily addictive and you don’t quite realize how insidious it is until it’s too late. I have basically tried every fad you can think of, everything except consistency. I once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks, as a detox. Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt. Apparently, it’s a cleanse… you definitely lose weight. And I tried to do keto once. I was like, ‘Oh, there’s a diet where you just eat charcuterie boards and cheese all the time?’ But I didn’t realize that you can’t have beer as it completely defeats the purpose.”
ES magazine marked Pattinson’s wise and truthful words, as men’s body positivity struggle remains undermined in the current society, yet the effects of the toxic beauty standards are pretty evident, especially in the youth. The magazine made sure to address the issue and released their statement.
“Joke or not, his quotes did shine a light on the pressure men face to look a certain way, a pressure that’s been filtering down steadily to younger and younger boys,”
Robert Pattinson On Sharing His Workout Routines
Robert Pattinson had earlier grabbed attention by saying that he resisted the pressure from the DC studios to get ripped for The Batman role. Eventually, Pattinson explained that it was a joke but admitted that it got him in lots of trouble. Pattinson made sure to express his thoughts on being viewed as a s*x symbol, which may sound tempting to many others. The Twilight Saga star shared that he is fed up with answering the same set of questions about his fitness routine and added his reasons for the same.
“Quite embarrassing when you get into a pattern of answering questions about your workout because there’ll always be a guy who’s in better shape than you.”
Pattinson is surely not the sole male celebrity who opened up about the pressure they face in the entertainment industry to maintain a socially desirable physique by undergoing extreme diets and workout routines. It is time that society promotes and most importantly accepts body positivity for both men and women.
