Whitman shared her thoughts on pansexuality in her tweets

“Just taking a moment to say I am SO proud to be even a small part of a show like The Owl House. Being pansexual myself, I wish I had such incredible characters like Amity and Luz in my life when I was growing up,” she shared. “Queer representation is so so so important :,) keep it up world! #TOH.”, she tweeted on Monday, gushing about the show.

Mae Whitman, star of ‘Good Girls,’ is proud of her pansexuality. For those unfamiliar with the label, she followed the post with another one clarifying what it meant: “I know ppl might be unfamiliar with what pansexual means; for me it means I know I can fall in love with people of all genders,” she explained. “This is the word that fits me best and I’m proud + happy to be part of the Bi+ community :,)” she clarified in the follow-up tweet. In addition, she also added a link to the GLAAD’s Bi+ Acceleration page.

The show has received praise for its LGBTQ+ plotlines. Especially the love story of Amity and Luz and the introduction of Disney‘s first non-binary character. In addition, Dana Terrace, the show’s creator, confirmed that the characters are lesbian and bisexual, respectively.

Whitman’s experience as a pansexual.

While this is the first time Whitman has given her sexuality a name, it isn’t the first time she has spoken about her queerness. Whitman told Glamour in 2014 that she liked people.

“I get along with everyone. Everyone I meet has so much wonderful potential, and there’s always something to learn from,” she said. “I think girls are attractive, boys are attractive, old people are attractive, young people are attractive — I think everything and everyone is attractive.”

Whitman mentioned that she had the advantage of growing up in a household where the same-sex attraction was completely normal. But, Whitman continued:

“I definitely have times where I’m attracted to girls or who I’m attracted to, and that should be the way it is.”

The Owl House Season 3 is in the works.

Disney has approved Season 3 of The Owl House. Therefore you’ll be seeing a lot more of it after the hiatus. When the season was announced, Meredith Roberts, senior vice president/general manager, Television Animation, Disney Channels, wrote:

“Dana and her team have created a series that continues to push the envelope with epic and diverse storylines, an astounding world, and multifaceted characters that have captivated our audience. We’re looking forward to bringing you more adventures in seasons two and three.”
