This is not the first time Disney+’s The Mandalorian franchise has been peppered with rumors of its lead star, Pedro Pascal, leaving the show. After the successful premiere of the third season, although showered with a mixed bag of responses from fans, the Star Wars series remains one of the most progressive shows on the platform.
The general viewers, although continually enjoying the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu, believe that the narrative has significantly dipped in terms of writing, character development, and the overall direction of the story. This leads to the rumors that the brains behind this project were having creative differences, which could be the probable cause of the show’s decline in quality.
Pedro Pascal Is Reportedly Unhappy With The Mandalorian, Season 3 Might Be The Last Installment
On Jeff Sneider’s latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast, he shared that The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau and Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy have not been sharing similar visions for the show since the second installment.
The director is apparently unhappy with Kennedy’s idea to reunite Djarin and Grogu during the events of The Book of Boba Fett. Instead, Favreau wanted the duo to cross paths in the third season after a long period.
The insider host also revealed that the show’s lead star Pedro Pascal is not having a great time portraying the character, and it would not come as a surprise if he decides to leave the franchise after Season 3. This gives rise to speculations that Djarin might get killed off toward the season finale.
While this is not the first time the said rumors made it to the headlines, it would make more sense now. Pascal has also dealt with the helmet issue, saying he could not see anything while wearing it and reportedly campaigned to shoot some scenes with his mask off. This alone stirred up controversy leading to the buzz that he might leave the show because his face is not getting enough exposure.
Like Pedro Pascal, Henry Cavill’s Exit From The Witcher Was Due To Creative Differences
Fans would remember that Henry Cavill also got caught in a whirlwind of controversy following his exit from Netflix’s The Witcher. Although he was accused of displaying toxic behavior on set, many believed that the Superman actor was unhappy as well with the series’ direction since the second season.
A report from Redanian Intelligence, an insider for The Witcher-related news, said that Cavill wanted to push for more book-accurate Geralt. The actor had difficulty in finding the balance between the showrunner’s creative vision and his passion for the books.
Like Pascal, the Man of Steel star pushed for his suggestions, which he claimed were just something along the lines of being faithful to the source. Seeing the result of the contradiction between Cavill and the creators behind Netflix’s The Witcher, the lead star of the show’s request was obviously not fulfilled.
For widely-acclaimed and popular series like The Mandalorian and The Witcher, losing the main star would be the last thing the studio would wish for. Now, only time can tell if Disney+ will commit the same mistake on Pascal’s involvement in the show that Netflix did with Cavill.
