Despite the show only being meant to be a Disney+ web series, the release of The Mandalorian was just the start of a cultural phenomenon that no one from Lucasfilm or Disney could’ve imagined. Bringing out one of the biggest numbers in viewership for the OTT platform with the release of the first season, the show has continuously and consistently maintained its image as one of the best contributions to the Star Wars Cinematic Universe.
And with the release of the third season of the series, the opening numbers proved again that the show deserves the top spot among the plethora of shows available on Disney+. But it seems like the subsequent episodes that the latest season has to offer might be lacking something that the previous seasons had as the viewership of the show has seen a fall in the number of viewers who are declining at a rapid rate.
The Viewership Of The Mandalorian Is Falling Rapidly
As the latest season dives deeper into the lore of the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu in the Outer Rim of The Galaxy Far Far Away, the response to the opening of the third season also brought the attention of many patiently waiting audience members to the first episode, which opened with a 1.6 Million season premiere views on Disney+. But as the new episodes of the series starring Pedro Pascal are being released, it seems like a great number of viewers are opting out of watching the show.

According to the reviews on IMDb, the first episode had a staggering 13,597 people rating and giving their insights on the show. But soon enough, the second episode saw a drop in reviews to 11,504 while the ratings were up to a solid 8.4 compared to the first episode’s 7.5. The third episode gauged a total review count of 10,503 and a rating of 7.2, a fall from the second episode yet again. But the real shocker was the release of the fourth episode of the third season, where the number of reviews dropped to 6,236 with a healthy rating of 8.0.
This is an alarming situation for the series as the drop from the first episode to the fourth episode during the run of the third season has been a whopping 60% in the number of reviewers. This points to the problem of people dropping the series during its run. While it can also be labeled as an instance where the audience may want to catch up to the series on the weekend, it still seems a lot to take in, especially when the numbers have fallen this drastically over just four episodes of the latest season.

What Is The Mandalorian Doing Wrong?
With the season’s strong opening thanks to the anticipated audience and their excitement to see more of Din Djarin and Grogu, the drop in viewers might be related to the lack of explosive content to spice things up. While the second and third episodes might’ve provided the fans with a more in-depth view of the history and lore of the Mandalorians, the interest of the simultaneous viewers might’ve swayed too much. Thankfully, the fourth episode has brought an action-packed change of pace for the series.
