James Gunn’s DCU is gearing up. Once the 2022 catalog of DC films, which includes The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman 2, gets released, it will be time for the co-CEO of DC Studio to begin his reign. While the Creature Commandos and Waller shows are first in line, every DC fan worth their salt knows the franchise will be kicked off by Superman: Legacy.
For months now, there has been speculation about who will wear the cape after Henry Cavill. Even though there’s still anger against Gunn for letting Cavill go, a lot of fans are also excited about the new actor who will be the DCU’s man of steel. Names like David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Jacob Elordi have been circulating for a long time. Now, a new name has been added to the list.
Pierson Fodé Has Captured James Gunn’s Attention For Superman: Legacy
Variety stated in a new report that Pierson Fodé, whose credits include The Bold and the Beautiful and The Man From Toronto, has auditioned for the role of Superman. The site claims that Fodé sent in a self-tape that included his Clark Kent-like childhood and James Gunn liked it. The outlet wrote:
“Fodé sent in a self-tape, which included a montage of footage showing his very Clark Kent-like childhood on a farm in the small town of Moses Lake, Wash. I’m told Gunn liked what he saw.”
The actor is 31 years old and does fall in the age bracket Gunn allegedly wants to cast. Variety’s sources mentioned that no casting decision has been made till now. The representatives of the actor didn’t comment as well. But fans surely have a lot of opinions on him.
DC Fans Are Impressed By Pierson Fodé’s Charming Looks
Variety’s report has stirred up Superman and DC fans. They are now wondering if Pierson Fodé will be a good man of steel. The general opinion among fans seems to be that at the very least, he has the looks and physique to play Superman.
Others joked that he looks like Henry Cavill’s younger brother. But some don’t believe this speculation and think James Gunn will debunk it soon enough.
Here’s what the fans are saying:
For now, the reception towards Pierson Fodé seems to be positive. James Gunn had previously mentioned that he is looking for an actor who embodies Superman completely. He had said:
“The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has, but he’s also an alien. It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug.”
So can Fodé be that charming guy one would love to give a hug to? That remains to be seen. There’s intense speculation that the Guardians director will announce his picks for Superman and Lois at SDCC. It will be interesting to see if DC has a presence there this year or not.
Superman: Legacy will be released on 11 July 2025.
