Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s already sordid relationship with Warner Bros. seems to have taken a turn for the worse as an insider brings fresh, steaming news about the two entities. While Johnson has always had somewhat of a vividly unsteady equation with DC Studios, new reports state that the actor’s ever-increasing “demands” with dissatisfying results have deepened the crack in his reputation in front of the studio execs.
In the early part of 2022, DC’s animated film titled DC League of Super-Pets starring The Rock and his on and off-screen best friend Kevin Hart was released. And as per sources, the lack of promotion on the former’s end has disappointed the WB heads. However, while the studio execs might perceive The Rock to be at fault, the former professional wrestler’s fans seem to think otherwise.
WB Believes The Rock Did Little to Promote Super Pets
An anonymous source recently revealed to Variety that when DC League of Super-Pets was approaching its release in July 2022, The Rock pushed Warner Bros. for a producing credit on the movie. To add fuel to the already scorching fire, Johnson apparently put in barely any effort to promote the animated film, thereby bringing no sufficient “returns” of his own to the table.
“His demands increased and the returns just weren’t there,” the insider said.
Directed by Jared Stern and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC League of Super-Pets consisted of a blockbuster ensemble including The Rock, Keanu Reeves, Kevin Hart, and John Krasinski, to list a few. Despite such a famous star cast though, the film wasn’t too grand of a success.

While it garnered generally positive reviews and grossed decent numbers with a collection of about $204 million worldwide, Super Pets didn’t meet the expectations of doing brilliantly well. With a production budget of $90 million, the film earned a total of around $110 million in its international box office and brought home a sum of $93.65 million in its domestic circuit.
However, regardless of how the movie was received, the supposed accusations against The Rock not doing enough to promote Super Pets is being criticized by fans as people rush to the Black Adam star’s defense.
Fans Defend The Rock Against Claims of Not Promoting Super Pets
Johnson, 50, has more often than not, managed to maintain an honest and interactive relationship with his fans. And The Game Plan star only has one main motto – what the audience wants, they shall get. So his fans naturally reciprocate with love and support for the actor from their end, which is why people are backing Johnson up amidst claims of him doing too “little to promote” Super Pets.
Following the news about recent revelations involving The Rock and DC Studios, a Twitter user posted a picture of the former dressed up as Krypto, the fluffy labrador retriever he voiced in Super Pets, pointing out how the actor did his best with regard to the movie’s promotion aspect. And tons of other people seem to agree as they defend the Red Notice star against the apparent attempt at sullying his reputation.
While the argument about whether or not Johnson promoted the film continues to churn more debates, the actor is yet to address any of the claims the said insider has made with regard to him.
DC League of Super-Pets can be streamed on HBO Max.
