The Witcher will be getting its third season soon with Anya Chalotra reprising her role as Yennefer. Henry Cavill will also be playing Geralt of Rivia for his final run in the series. It has always been a known fact how much the actor loves books as well as the game. His being replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the show made things further complicated for Netflix.
Chalotra and Cavill have many scenes together which made it possible for them to get to understand how they work. With this being the last season that the actor would appear in, it becomes an integral factor for Netflix to somehow maintain the strong fanbase that Cavill had brought in the first place. The actress further commented on his departure.
Anya Chalotra Was In Awe With Henry Cavill’s Love For The Witcher
Anya Chalotra and Henry Cavill have been working together on The Witcher since the first season. The two are lovers in the series, both having their own character arcs and distinct storylines. Nevertheless, they needed heavy chemistry between the two to actually prove that even with not as much explored story, Yennefer and Geralt were together. A very important decision for Sophie Holland had been to find the perfect actress that would mix well with Cavill and Chalotra was perfect for that.
“He’s a very sweet man—and the best person I could have worked with in this role – the enthusiasm and love he brings for The Witcher is always inspiring.”
She admitted that her experience while working with Cavill had been a delight. His love for the series and the lore that it comes with. Chalotra focused on how much he is dedicated to bringing out the best of the story present in front of them. This had been special for her and for the show itself because seeing the authenticity of the series made fans love it in the first place.
Henry Cavill’s Love For The Witcher Might Pose As A Problem For Liam Hemsworth
Liam Hemsworth taking the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill was already beginning to be a problem for Netflix and the Hunger Games actor because of the number of fans who used to watch the show due to Cavill’s involvement. While there had been no hate for Hemsworth, the viewership had already been decreasing as compared to the first and second seasons.
The fans are already planning on boycotting the show post the actor’s departure. Considering that a big reason for that had been how much the series was drifting from the books and the games, it was becoming less enjoyable for him to be a part of it. Now that Anya Chalotra has also confirmed the actor’s adoration for the story and the characters, it would get even more difficult for Hemsworth to fill in shoes that were already too big for him.
The third season of The Witcher will premiere on Netflix in the summer of 2023.
