People from the good old times of the 1980s might remember a certain movie that hit their nearest theatres in the year 1985. Little that they knew that this movie would go on to be one of the highest-rated cult classic blockbusters of the decade with everyone who experienced it being smitten with it instantly.
Yes, we are talking about one of the all-time favorites, The Goonies.
When the movie was first released back in 1985 on the 7th of June, it became one of the most popular movies of the summer, especially with the younger audience to whom the movie was catered. After more than 35 years since the film’s release, it’s still considered one of the all-time greats.
And so, when a member of the cast of this successful flick revisited the stage inside Warner Bros. Studios where one of the famous scenes of the film was shot, he couldn’t help but reminisce about the good times he had with his Goonies Gang.
Revisiting The Goonies Was A Bit Emotional
Ke Huy Quan, who played Richard “Data” Wang in The Goonies, is a kid with a love for making gadgets that sometimes don’t work out exactly as they are expected to. In the 36 years since The Goonies was released, Quan has never been back to the place where he shot the movie, but all that changed when he paid a visit to the Warner Bros. soundstage where part of The Goonies was filmed and got a little emotional about the moment.

“First time back to Warner Brothers’ stage 16 in 36 years. This stage is where we filmed the pirate ship scene in The Goonies. I got a bit emotional as all my wonderful memories of my Goonies Gang came flooding back. Fun trivia fact: the floor of this stage opens up and goes down 40 ft deep.” said the Everything, Everywhere, All At Once star as he talked about his wonderful experiences and fond memories that he created with the cast of The Goonies back when it was still in its production phase.

The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure comedy film co-produced and directed by Richard Donner from a screenplay by Chris Columbus, based on a story by Steven Spielberg. In the film, kids who live in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are chased by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves.
It sure has been a while since The Goonies graced us with its release, and we are thankful to this day that this that it still remains in our hearts as a sweet and salty memory.
