Mark Wahlberg had a rollercoaster of a career, as he went on to have troubled and drug-ridiculed adolescence to become one of the biggest names in the movie industry. Throughout the years, the Deepwater Horizon actor has consistently showcased his prowess and range as an actor. From action roles in the Transformers franchise to delivering emotionally charged acting performances in drama films like The Fighter, Wahlberg can do it all with ease.
While Mark Wahlberg has enjoyed immense success in Hollywood, he is also popular throughout Hollywood for his dedication, commitment, and professionalism. The actor chooses his films after doing extensive research so that he can strive for perfection by embodying his character. And in order to stay relevant and popular in the movie industry, he has a rule that he ardently follows.
Mark Wahlberg Does Not Like Doing Sequels
Ted 2 has gained immense love and popularity from the audience, as it featured an edgy and dark sense of humor, with a great plot of a foul-mouthed teddy bear and his human companion. The movie is a comedic genius and it resonated to a global audience because of its raunchy humor. However, Mark Wahlberg was skeptical of returning to the sequel as he has a golden rule that he follows when he is offered to work in a sequel.
During an exclusive interview with Popsugar, the interviewer stated how Seth McFarlane, the director of Ted 2 had stated that he would not come up with a sequel, as Wahlberg was skeptical of his return to the franchise.
Mark Wahlberg replied,
“Yeah, I mean, I’ve never done a sequel before, the golden rule is you only do it if you can make it better than the first. That’s not always an easy thing to do but if anybody could do it, I knew Seth could so when he told me the idea I was thrilled. As he was like, it’s better than the first but it’s different, and he’s going on a whole new journey and it’s got all the things you loved about the first one, which is the edgy humor, the heart also now has a message, that I think everything can’t understand.”
Mark Wahlberg’s decision to return to the sequel was a righteous one, as his performance in the role of John Bennett was a key element of the film, that was immensely loved and praised by both the critics and the audience of the film. Moreover, the actor was responsible for getting Tom Brady to be a part of the sequel.
Tom Brady Accepted To Be A Part of Ted 2 For his Bestfriend
Later in the interview with Popsugar, the interviewer told that they know Tom Brady and Wahlberg are friends, but “how did he present it to him?” The actor stated that Brady was a big fan of the first film and he even came to meet him on the set of the film, and when he presented it to him, he was laughing and then he accepted to be a part of the sequel.
“It’s funny because he was a big fan of the first one, he came to visit me on the set. And thought, oh my God, this was probably a horrible idea. You and a talking teddy bear but he didn’t really come out and say that. But you could tell when I pitched him the movie, but then after he saw it everybody got it. And, then I called him and told him what the scene was I read it to him. And, when he finally stopped laughing, he said, ‘Absolutely, I would love to do it.’ And we had a lot of fun.”
While Ted 2 is an edgy film about a foul-mouth teddy bear and his human companion, the film combines dark humor with thought-provoking themes in a meaningful manner, that ensures the audience would enjoy the film. With a strong performance from Mark Wahlberg and other cast members, Ted 2 is a must-watch film.
Ted 2 can be rented on AppleTV.
