Even though the Arrowverse started on a great foundation with the initial seasons of their prominent shows, including Arrow and The Flash, the CW universe soon lost into obscurity. After the Crisis event, the Arrowverse became a shadow of its former self and is finally inching toward its end.
Although The Flash has lost its essence throughout its decade-long run, the showrunners seem adamant about delivering a deserved ending for their fans. And it appears that one of the best villains in the entire Arrowverse is coming back for one last race with Grant Gustin’s scarlet speedster.
The Flash season 9 to include many returning characters
The Arrowverse is finally inching toward its end with its longest-running show, after being on a downward spiral after the Crisis on Infinite Earths event. As The Flash is just days away from kicking its final season, showrunner Eric Wallace has confirmed some returning fan favorites, which will end the final chapter of Arrowverse spectacularly.
The Arrowverse, which has been a home for a pile of DC characters over the last decade, will finally rest after the ninth season of The Flash. With Stephen Amell already being confirmed to return as Oliver Queen in the final season of the show, Eric Wallace revealed some more characters that will be appearing in the show, including Rick Cosnett, Jessica Parker Kennedy, and the fan-favorite, Reverse Flash.
Reverse Flash is back for one final race in the Arrowverse
Even though Reverse Flash is easily the best villain of CW’s The Flash, his repetitive occurrence in every single season damaged the character’s legacy, which eventually led to the exit of Tom Cavanagh in season 7. But it’s only fair that the biggest nemesis of Barry Allen gets his swansong before the end of Arrowverse, and it is now confirmed that Reverse Flash will be making an appearance.
But instead of Tom Cavanagh’s version of the character, Matt Letscher will be the one to represent Reverse Flash in the final season of The Flash. And considering the limited presence of Matt Letscher as the speedster, it can be refreshing for fans to witness a different version of the iconic character. Eric Wallace also shared his excitement over Matt Letscher’s return in the final season, as he went on to state,
“Having the incredibly gracious and talented Matt Letscher return for our final season was something we couldn’t resist. So, we created a very special story for him, one we’ve been excited to tell for a while, but couldn’t until now. The result is a wild and bittersweet episode we hope fans both old and new will love.”
Even though the Arrowverse did lose its charm over the years, considering that the last season will only consist of 13 episodes, it’s clear that the creators want to end The Flash on a high note. Fans will hope that the final chapter of Arrowverse gives a proper sendoff to the beloved characters and finally rest while allowing future DC projects to grow in their place.
