Fans have loved the version of Batman that Michael Keaton brought to the big screens. And for a long time, fans had hoped that he would return as the famous hero as perhaps a senior Bruce Wayne. But when Michael Keaton had declared that he wouldn’t be returning to the role, he crushed so many fans’ hearts. So Michael Keaton fans, hang tight, cause here’s the news that is going to bring a wide smile to your face.
Michael Keaton Will Be Returning As Batman
Keaton is one of the most versatile actors in the industry, right from Mr. Mom to Birdman. The actor is seen doing a variety of roles in movies with different genres, like action thriller (The Protégé), 9/11 drama (Worth), etc. And now, after 30 years, the actor has decided to return to the Caped Crusader’s role. During an interview, the actor said that he had been thinking about this for quite a long time. He said:
“Frankly, in the back of my head, I always thought, ‘I bet I could go back and nail that motherfucker,'” he said. “And so I thought, ‘Well, now that they’re asking me, let me see if I can pull that off”.
During the interview, he also explained why he didn’t take the role when he was offered, by adding:
“Back then, if I did have a strategy. I wanted to provide myself the opportunity where I could have some choices. I want to see how wide I can make this [career].”
Keaton Explains How He Prepared for The Flash
While talking about the movie and its plot, Keaton said that understanding the complicated plot of The Flash was the toughest, since the movie has a lot of parallel-universe concepts. He also said that to understand how it all works, he read the script three times and added that everyone explained a lot to him. The last time he rejected playing Batman in Batman Forever, he didn’t like the script. He also admitted that after the first Batman, he didn’t see any comic book movies.
He also says that with this movie, “it’s different”:
“There’s a lot of things I don’t know about. And so, I don’t know, I just kind of figured it out, but this was different. What’s really interesting is how much more I got [Batman] when I went back and did him.”
The actor seems to be very excited for his new role as Batman in The Flash.
“What’s really interesting is how much more I got [Batman] when I went back and did him. I get this on a whole other level now. I totally respect it. I respect what people are trying to make. I never looked at it like, ‘Oh, this is just a silly thing.’ It was not a silly thing when I did Batman. But it has become a giant thing, culturally. It’s iconic. So I have even more respect for it because what do I know? This is a big deal in the world to people. You’ve got to honor that and be respectful of that. Even I go, ‘Jesus, this is huge.’ “
Now that Michael Keaton is going to back as Batman, we cannot keep calm. However, we are pretty sure, we are as excited as the actor is.
