Is The Flash movie even about the Flash? This seems to be the most frequently asked question about the Ezra Miller-led film. After all, not a lot of Flash fans were happy to hear that Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl would be sharing screen space with the speedster.
But what made fans scratch their heads was the decision of the creatives to adapt the Flashpoint Paradox comic book story and yet not include the most important character- Reverse Flash. However, director Andy Muschietti has stated that there are indeed plans for the villain.
The Flash Director Confirmed That The Sequel Will Bring The Most Famous Villain
The Flash adapts the Flashpoint Paradox comic book story without some of its most notable characters and elements. For example, the Atlantean and Amazonian war has been cut out and so has Thomas Wayne’s Batman. Also, instead of Superman being the one who gets captured by the military, in the film it’s Supergirl. However, many fans understood that changes have to be made to adapt something from the page to the screen.
However, what many didn’t understand is why Andy Muschietti and his team decided to not even include the most well-known Flash villain of all time- Reverse Flash in the Ezra Miller-led film. In fact, it’s pretty much impossible to imagine the Flashpoint story without the villain who actually caused Nora Allen, Barry Allen’s mom’s death. However, the film excluded the character. But in an interview, the director confirmed that he has plans for the character in the sequel.
The Playlist reported Andy Muschietti saying:
“Well, Reverse Flash is the elephant in the room, right? It feels like you can’t make another movie without addressing the one that, in all accounts, is the murderer of Barry’s mom. So, it feels like the big villain.”
This announcement by the director has made many people roll their eyes. DC and Flash fans have a lot to say about this decision taken by the makers.
Fans Slam WBD And The Flash Creatives For Excluding Reverse Flash
DC fans think that a Flash movie should have had the most well-known villain in the hero’s rogue gallery- Reverse Flash. However, instead of him, Ezra Miller’s film has villains like Zod, Dark Flash, and a bunch of Kryptonians. As such, many are pissed that they decided to hold back the most famous villain for the second film.
Here’s what the fans are saying:
Even though, a sequel script to the film has been written, it doesn’t look like it is going to get made. After all, James Gunn is rebooting the DC franchise. But that’s not the only hurdle. The Flash is getting bombarded with poor reviews and bad word of mouth. This means that it might not make enough money to guarantee a sequel. But maybe fans can see Reverse Flash in all of his glory in the DCU next.
The Flash is now in theaters.
