Apart from being highly controversial, Andy Muschietti’s The Flash has also been one of the most anticipated movies of the year and the trailer for the film didn’t fail to elevate the hype surrounding it. Even though the controversies surrounding its lead star Ezra Miller has resulted in subsequent delays for the movie, the early rave reviews from the movie’s early screening have elevated fans’ expectations.
Although the movie is still around 2 months away from its eventual release, the new reports surrounding the movie have once again pumped up the excitement around fans for the movie.
Andy Muschietti wins Filmmaker of the Year Award for The Flash at CinemaCon
While announcing his upcoming slate for the DCU, James Gunn didn’t back away from complimenting Andy Muschietti for his work on The Flash and even went further to state, “It’s one of the best superhero movies I’ve ever seen. Andy Muschietti did an amazing job”. Considering the gravity of the statement, it appears that Gunn might turn out to be right as Andy and Barbara Muschietti reportedly won the International Filmmakers of the Year Award at CinemaCon for The Flash.
Apart from rave reviews for Muschietti’s ambitious project and garnering appreciation from the likes of Tom Cruise, it appears that the upcoming DC movie will reportedly witness a long runtime.
The Flash will reportedly have a long runtime
DC movies are no new when it comes to longer runtimes and it seems it might be the case for Andy Muschietti’s upcoming The Flash too. According to an Industry insider, it is being said that the upcoming movie surrounding the Scarlet Speedster will be around 150 minutes long. Although the final ending for the movie is still reportedly being discussed by Warner Bros. Discovery executives, it’s reasonable to see why the movie will comprise a long runtime.
Even though longer runtimes don’t always imply the quality of the movie, it does ensure that the filmmakers have enough time to establish their story in the way they want. Considering that DC hasn’t shied away from long runtimes, with their recent biggest success being The Batman, which was almost 3 hours long, it makes sense that they might do the same for The Flash.
Fans will now have to wait to witness Andy Muschietti’s work on The Flash in order to judge its quality for themselves and decide if it’s good or not. But following the abundant amount of praise from the early reviews, it seems that Muschietti was able to hit the ball out of the park with this one.
The Flash will hit theatres on 16 June 2023.
