If not for the frustrated review-bombers, the second season of The Boys has received universal acclaim for its consistently top-rated episodes. Released back in 2019, The Boys became an instant hit for its graphic tone, intense setting, and spectacular performances by Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Tomer Capon, and Laz Alonso.

Created by Eric Kripke, The Boys is adapted from Garth Ennis’ critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name. Thought the show has stayed faithful to the source material for its violence, showrunner Eric Kripke has taken a few creative liberties to make the show relevant in current times. From gender-bending to altering a few story arcs, the show’s bold approach has been well received even by fans of the comic book.

Before the release of the second season, veteran actor Jeffery Dean Morgan was rumored to join the cast for two possible characters from the comics. Though one of the characters is yet to make his appearance, the other character made his appearance in the latest episode. The sixth episode begins with the Boys visiting a secret asylum which is under Vought’s jurisdiction. As Frenchie, Kimiko, and M.M. infiltrate the asylum using Starlight’s help, Hughie and Butcher watch the perimeter. The Boys make a startling discovery as the asylum turns out to be a testing facility for Compound V on adults.
Meanwhile, Homelander and Stormfront continue their newly blossomed romance as they dish out their sociopathic tendencies as justice to petty criminals. As the Boys are occupied with the secret testing facility of Vought, Stormfront pays a visit to the asylum to check on the test subjects. With her, is a former member of the Seven, Lamplighter. Previously, it was revealed that Lamplighter was responsible for killing Colonel Mallory’s grandchildren which forced her to retire.
As Frenchie and M.M. make their discovery of secret human experimentation being held at the asylum, the test subjects show a variety of powers ranging from acidic spit to telekinesis. But most interestingly, long-time fans of the comic book are in for a treat as the camera focuses on an important character from the graphic novel. Surprised by his incredibly large phallus, M.M. discovers that the secret facility has been keeping Vasilii Vorishikin aka Love Sausage as one of the inmates.
Played by Andrew Jackson, Love Sausage is a Russian superhero who is also one of the few good Supes in the comics. However, introducing him as a test subject in Vought’s secret facility is a major change to the character’s backstory.

True to his name, Love Sausage is extremely well-endowed to the point of being uncomfortable. In the comics, his powers were limited to super-strength and extreme durability. However, the show has taken yet another creative liberty as Love Sausage seems to have a prehensile penis that can elongate and shrink at will.
The latest episode also has another major reveal planned for the fans. As Homelander and Stormfront’s newly blossomed romance hits a minor roadblock, tensions fly high as the mentally fragile Homelander burns down the set of The Dawn of The Seven in a fit of rage. To calm him down, Stormfront reveals her secretive past to him.

Previously, the Boys had discovered that Stormfront is actually the former disgraced superhero Liberty from the early 1970s. Having wrongfully killed a black man in a fit of racial profiling, Liberty was retired by Vought. However, she was re-branded and introduced as Stormfront in the current timeline as a social media activist and feminist to cater to the younger audience.
In the latest episode, Stormfront reveals her true identity to an enraged Homelander. Born in 1919, Stormfront was the first-ever superhero created by Frederick Vought. Interestingly, Stormfront had also married Vought and had a daughter named Chloe, who passed away after suffering from Alzheimer’s in her old age.
Having shared the stage with the likes of Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebbels, Stormfront confirms that she does believe in the racial superiority theory of the Nazis. After convincing Homelander that he is the chosen one to lead them against the other races that are trying to grind them down, the two seemingly make-up.
The episode also brings back Colonel Mallory as the Boys take Lamplighter captive from the asylum. Though overwhelmed with rage for the death of her grandchildren, Mallory is able to restrain herself after Frenchie pleads with her to spare Lamplighter’s life. However, the Boys do seem to have something else planned for the retired member of the Seven.
As the second season of The Boys has been consistently releasing spectacular episodes, the sixth episode has also been nothing short of magnificent. As one of the few wholesome episodes from the series, the latest episode has made some surprising revelations and uncanny partnerships.
The Boys will return with its seventh episode on 2nd October 2020, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
