The Flash is finally coming to an end, marking Grant Gustin’s journey as the titular character to also conclude. The season’s first episode aired recently and has officially started the beginning of what would be the series’ end. Grant Gustin is a highly loved actor, especially for his role as Barry Allen in the show. The Arrowverse got a splash of color with his involvement alongside Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen.
After nine seasons the series will conclude, having various characters from the past making their return. Both heroes and villains will be returning to the show and having one final appearance, saying goodbye to a series that has been loved by the fans since it first aired in 2013. Gustin has officially released a statement regarding his departure from the series.
Grant Gustin Bids Farewell To The Flash
Grant Gustin has given out a statement saying goodbye to the show that made fans fall in love with his character. He made Barry Allen iconic to the point where fans are to date demanding for the actor take over as the Flash of the DC Universe. They want him to replace Ezra Miller. However, Gustin seems to be willingly bidding farewell to his beloved character.
“I’m ready for it to be over,” he said. “And that’s not for any negative reason. It’s like when you’re getting ready to finish high school and—granted I don’t know what college I’m going to after this, I might not get into college—but you’re excited to wrap up and move on to the next phase of your life.”
Gustin very beautifully explained how for him the Flash had been a phase of life that was inevitably going to end eventually. He has come to terms with that fact and is ready for whatever the future holds for him after the series that changed his life will end.
A Flash Of Change After Grant Gustin
Grant Gustin is parting with his character just as Ezra Miller’s version of the Flash will be starring in his solo movie. While fans have been demanding for Gustin to replace Miller considering the controversy regarding the latter, it is still not clear whether or not Miller will maintain his position in the DCU.
On the other hand, Gustin’s journey as the character has been a memorable one. No matter how much the show’s rating may have fluctuated, one thing that remained in common was the fact that everyone admired his role and how well he brought Barry Allen to life.
The Flash is now airing on The CW.
