After years of rumors floating around, the news of Kevin Feige’s potential Star Wars movie was finally addressed by Kathleen Kennedy. As everyone knows Marvel’s director Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan. As such when news of him being involved in a Star Wars movie broke, numerous fans of both franchises kind of lost their minds.

Especially as long-time Marvel screenwriter Michael Waldron commented on his enthusiasm for this project in various interviews in the last couple of years.

However, in any of their project announcement events during that time, nothing of the sort was ever addressed. It was only in this year’s Star Wars Celebration convention held a few days ago, that it was ever brought up. And, well, the update seems shocking to say the least.

Especially as Waldron noted in various interviews from 2021 to 2022 that he has in fact started working on drafts for this project. However, after years went by with no official announcement from Lucasfilm fans started to lose hope.

Although, with years of experience with Feige’s way of working on films, there still seemed a chance of this coming to fruition eventually, even if it got shelved now for reasons. Sadly, in this year’s Star Wars Celebration convention in London, Lucasfilm director Kathleen Kennedy addressed the issue and claimed that the project did not in fact get shelved, as it never materialized in the first place.

Kathleen Kennedy updates on Kevin Feige’s Star Wars Collaboration

Kathleen Kennedy mentioned that as with everyone she too is aware of just how big of a Star Wars fan Marvel‘s director is. As such, according to her, if Feige ever came with a pitch about a possible collaboration, she would be all ears. However, seems like even after publicly speaking on it for years, Feige never took it to her. Which is confusing, to say the least.

Noting how this was reported in the fandom, and not an official announcement, she added, “Kevin Feige’s project was something announced in the press, or I suppose fandom. But, there was nothing… Nothing ever got developed.” Kathleen Kennedy also revealed that they never even discussed any ideas and how she, similar to everyone else, is aware of Kevin Feige‘s Star Wars fanaticism. As such,

“If he did come up with something, I would be all ears. But, that’s never really happened. So, it’s not an abandoned project. It just never really happened.”

This news not only disappointed but straight up shocked a lot of fans. Especially with Feige and Waldron publicly commenting on it for years. This is why fans seem to be of the notion that there might really have been a film but it never really got enough material to be substantiated.

And as a result, got canceled. Well, if along with Kevin Feige, fans will ever get to see a historic collaboration like that, remains a mystery right now. However, with Marvel announcing their massive plans for the fifth phase and Star Wars announcing a new three-part Star Wars movie production along with their upcoming series, fans will surely have a lot to entertain themselves with for years to come.
