In an interview, Lord gave a glimpse of the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, sharing that the movie has a large number of Spider-people. Adding on to that Miller shared that this time they were able to tour across the different universes and presented a much deeper insight into their respective Spider-people, which included the popular character of Gwen Stacy.

“I mean the fact that we could go deeper into these characters was really good. I mean we got to see Gwen in the first movie as a really cool, confident, aspirational person…People just dig deeper into these characters but also the fact that we could actually go into the Spider-Verse even though the first film was called Into the Spider-Verse. This time we got to go to all these different worlds and see all these different styles of animation and all these looks that you’ve never seen before and the audience a new experience.”

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller On The Trilogy Of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man Verse

Following the resounding success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, fans eagerly anticipated the continuation of the Spider-Verse saga. To everyone’s surprise, the filmmakers decided to deliver the sequels, but only until the completion of the trilogy. After the release of the upcoming film, Across the Spider-Verse, the makers will work on the last film to complete the trilogy i.e., Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

The outstanding filmmaking duo shared that they have their vision for the trilogy. Christopher Miller stated that Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the last of the Spider-Verse movie, jokingly marking that they have been tired after working so much to create successful movies.

“It is the end of Miles Morales’ trilogy and so this whole thing is like working towards that but this obviously has its own complete film with a beginning, middle, and end and Miles starts in one place and ends in another and all the characters have their arc in this film but that’s it for us. We’re so tired.”

It looks like the makers have made up their minds to end the animated story of Miles Morales with the completion of the trilogy. The duo seemed to have their plan to perfectly end the storyline, rather than extending it for no true reason.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released on June 2, 2023.
