The “IT” couples of the ’90s initially met on the set of their movie Days of Thunder, in which Kidman played his love interest. After divorcing his then-wife Mimi Rogers, Cruise married the Aquaman star in December 1990 in an intimate ceremony in Colorado on Christmas Eve.
However, after staying married for nearly a decade, they announced the news of their separation in 2001. Although Cruise and Kidman stayed mum on the reason behind their divorce, the actress once poked fun at her former husband’s height during her appearance on The David Letterman Show.

She found success early in her career and shot to superstardom with her outstanding acting performance in the 2001 flick Moulin Rouge! The movie earned her an Academy Award nomination, and her acting genius gained the attention of the industry heavyweights, which led her to gain strings of prominent roles in big-banner movies.
Kidman was married to Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise for nearly a decade, from 1990 to 2001; however, their shocking split caused quite a stir among their fans, and to date, the former couple stayed tight-lipped on the reason behind their divorce. The Just Go With It movie star once made a bombshell comment about her former partner Tom Cruise’s height.
In 2001 during her appearance on The David Letterman Show, Kidman was asked about her divorce, to which she stated, “Well, I can wear heels now,” and quickly added now we move on.” Her savage response left the audience bursting into laughter.
This episode was understandable on her part, as she was just getting divorced at that time and was tired of telling people to mind their own business rather than asking her the reason behind their split.
Princess Diana Once Claimed She Would Not Date Tom Cruise
Princess Diana was the epitome of kindness and grace, and millions of people adored the late princess of Wales. The former wife of King Charles once revealed to her royal chef Darren McGrady that she would not date Tom Cruise, who was allegedly her crush in the 90s. Last year, McGrady revealed,
“[Diana] came into the kitchen one morning and said, Darren, we’ve had an invite to go and watch the making of Mission Impossible at Pinewood Studios in London, for me to take William and Harry. Do you think they’d be interested? I remember saying, ‘I’m not sure about the boys, your Royal Highness, but if you get to meet Tom Cruise…’ She said: ‘Darren I’ll crack the funnies.’”
He added that after meeting the Top Gun movie star, Diana later told him that she would not date him because “he is too short.”
“She came in, picked up some fruit, walked out, and didn’t say anything. But as she was walking out, she said, ‘That’s another one off the list. He’s too short,” McGrady said.”
Princess Diana and Tom Cruise initially met in 1992 at the premiere of the Western romantic adventure flick Far and Away, in which he starred next to his then-wife, Nicole Kidman.
