James Gunn’s swansong for the MCU is finally here. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released worldwide in theaters on May 5th and the initial reactions to the film are extremely positive. The 3rd installment featuring the entertaining group of intergalactic superheroes has been a while in the making but it has been worth the wait. Marvel fans and critics are calling it one of the best MCU films after a few underwhelming entries like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
One of the main reasons for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 receiving positive reviews is the superlative performance of Bradley Cooper who voiced the character of Rocket in the film. Cooper’s humorous portrayal of the loved raccoon was filled with style and swag, making him one of the most popular characters of the Guardians franchise. With the 3rd installment, the Hollywood star has surpassed all expectations with arguably his best rendition of Rocket, leaving fans emotional and stunned.

When the first installment of Guardians of the Galaxy premiered in 2014, actor Mindy Kaling was shocked at the casting choices which included one of Hollywood’s heartthrobs Bradley Cooper playing the voice of Rocket Raccoon. Kaling expressed her disbelief about casting a magnetic and bankable actor like Cooper as the CGI-powered voice of a rodent. But she was proved completely wrong in her assumption.
Bringing an inspired physicality, grating humor, and deep emotion to the gun-obsessed raccoon, Bradley Cooper became one with the character. The creative decision to use Cooper as Rocket’s voice instead of giving him a physical role in the film proved to be a casting coup with Rocket becoming one of MCU’s most loved characters. While Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill was the face of the franchise, Rocket was the beating heart and soul of the films mainly due to Bradley Cooper’s brilliant portrayal of the intergalactic raccoon which in turn made the Oscar nominee one of MCU’s biggest icons.
