Henry Cavill has been thriving in his acting career and is working hard towards bringing his favorite video game to life. The live-action version of Warhammer 40000 is in the works with Amazon and Cavill both starring and producing the series. Even after so many losses, the actor is holding strong in his career in the Hollywood industry.
His career is in full swing at the moment but, there was almost a point in his life when he had to bid farewell to acting. The pandemic had been impactful for everyone and Henry Cavill was no expectation of it. He immediately started filming for The Witcher after the lockdown. He has since also stepped away from the Geralt of Rivia. An injury that took place during that time almost jeopardized his entire career.
Henry Cavill’s Hamstring Tear Almost Took Away His Career
During the filming of The Witcher Henry Cavill suffered from an injury that made it difficult for him to walk. The hamstring tear made it impossible for him to stand for longer than five hours a day. So much so that his physiotherapists had made it clear for him to not exert himself. However, it is already a known fact that the actor will give his everything for the project he will be working on.
“Before work every day, I was getting up at 4 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. to do about an hour and a half, two hours, two and a half hours of physical therapy.”
The Netflix show was similar to that. The effort that it requires for filming is especially extensive. He was running on a massively tight schedule that did not allow him much room for any proper rest. Cavill revealed that although his workout had been lighter during the lockdown, it helped him get right back to filming. Unfortunately, he did not see the injury coming.
Henry Cavill Was Patient With His Injury Healing
Henry Cavill, although faced difficulties while filming, did not want to try and rush any of the healing processes that could lead to permanent damage to his body. The hamstring could have very easily ended his career and so he did not want to test the waters to a level where there was no coming back from. The grade three tear became too painful someday and would not let him shoot in peace.
On other days, however, it would allow him to work for more than five hours if the filming on a particular day required him to. He could sometimes stretch it to six or seven hours, depending on his pain tolerance. He admitted that the more Cavill would have worried, the worse it would have gotten. So he decided to look at it as not that big of a deal and tried to live his life as he usually would. Now the actor is fully recovered and back in action.
The Witcher’s third season will be streaming on Netflix in the summer of 2023.
