The internet went chaotic after last month’s announcement of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama Succession ending with its fourth season. Jesse Armstrong, the series creator, declared that the show will conclude despite the fans’ uproar. Brian Cox, who stars as Logan Roy, salutes Armstrong’s decision.
The Succession star expressed his sentiments regarding the series’ final season. Despite fans wanting more, the actor believes it is for the good of the story and that some things should not overstay their welcome.
Succession’s Brian Cox Believes Series Ending In the Fourth Season Is A Great Decision
The 76-year-old Brian Cox shared in an interview with Variety what he will miss from the show and what he thinks of series creator Armstrong:
“He’s very disciplined in that way, and also he’s very British in that way. The American inclination is to milk it for all its worth. I’ll miss the cast, I’ll miss the atmosphere, I’ll miss the bonhomie. Logan, probably, I’ll miss a bit. But upward and onwards.”
Cox’s character, Logan Roy, remains the central figure in the story, and his stroke became the event that kick-started the whole plot. After his health decline, Roy’s children are forced to choose the next head of the Waystar Royco enterprise. The oldest brother is appointed as temporary heir, as tradition holds, but when he proves unfit for the role, Roy reclaims his position. The other children are also thrown into the chaotic world of the power-hungry corporation.
In the interview, Cox also noted Logan’s motivations:
“They would absolutely destroy it. It would last in their hands probably no more than five minutes. And yet that’s what he wanted. He wanted his successor. Four seasons to prove it! And they simply haven’t proved it.”
The much-awaited final season will show the Roy clan getting deeply moved by the sale of Waystar Royco to Alexander Skarsgard’s Lukas Matsson, who is ready to conquer the Roy family. Fans are quite disappointed to know that the show is ending soon, but the cast is already aware that the story is almost at the end of its narrative.
