"Still feeling the effects of all my wrestling injuries": Dwayne Johnson Won't 'Ego-Train' after John Cena Match Tore His Abs

Dwayne Johnson’s jaw-dropping physique continues to astonish even the biggest stars of Hollywood. The Jumanji actor, who gave up his skyrocketing wrestling career for Hollywood, often regrets the irreparable injury he sustained from his rival, John Cena during a match. Despite a nearly-perfect physique, Johnson cannot have six-pack abs following the injury, which altered how his stomach looks.

The former WWE legend said:

“So really, in my 30s and early 40s, when I was coming off of wrestling, I was still feeling the effects of all my wrestling injuries. At 40, I said, “Okay, I’m going to spend the next decade training as smart as I can, balancing out training and family and work, being an open sponge, learning every day.

But also not worrying about ego training, not worrying about the weight that I’m putting on the bar, pushing myself so hopefully, by the time I hit the fifth level, my joints are feeling great and I’m still able to not only maintain but add real muscle and some really dense muscle.” That’s a long answer to tell you I’m feeling pretty good.”

Dwayne Johnson was referring to his wrestling injuries, specifically an old pelvis tendon injury, which the actor suffered years ago during a high-profile WrestleMania bout against John Cena.

What’s Wrong With Dwayne Johnson’s Abs?

During the above interview, Dwayne Johnson admitted that he won’t ego train and wouldn’t worry about pushing himself, adding, “hopefully.” The Black Adam star’s fitness coach, Dave Rienzi, previously revealed how Johnson never complained about exercise and continues to remain an inspiration for many.

Even though the actor is known for his perfect physique, Johnson suffered a major pelvis tendon injury during his match against John Cena, which altered the way his stomach looks. During a previous interview, he was asked, “What’s wrong with The Rock’s abs?”

Johnson first laughed, noting that the inquiry was “so f—– up,” and then explained:

“There’s nothing wrong with them. Here’s the thing. I think because on Instagram these fitness models have these incredible six, eight, 12, 24-pack stomachs. … I’ve got a five-and-a-half pack, sometimes a four-and-a-half-pack.”

The problem was, which a lot of people don’t know, in a wrestling match, I tore the top of my quad off my pelvis… That caused a chain reaction and it tore my abdomen wall. So then I had to do a triple hernia emergency surgery … so, they’re not, like, perfect abs.”

Not many people are aware that Dwayne Johnson cannot have perfect abs because the Baywatch star tore the top of his quad off the pelvis. The subsequent chain reaction ultimately tore his abdomen wall. This led to a triple hernia emergency surgery. The actor admitted that he underwent a lot of pain to fix the injury, but he couldn’t fix his abs, courtesy of John Cena
