The prevalence of superhero films is no secret. Many talented people have worked on more than one of these franchises due to studios’ competition for box office supremacy with different shared universes. James Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad and the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before taking over as co-CEO of the DC Universe, is perhaps the best example.
The eagerly awaited third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was recently released by Marvel Studios, and reviews were generally positive after dominating the box office.
Well, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a very emotional movie that features a lot of different events. The movie even concludes by introducing a brand-new Guardians of the Galaxy team. However, some elements were left out of the movie’s final version.
And with the release of deleted scenes about High Evolutionary’s (Chukwudi Iwuji) uncertain fate was enough to elicit conflicting reactions from fans.
High Revolutionary Actor on Alternate Ending in James Gunn’s Film
When Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 first hit theaters, Chukwudi Iwuji, who plays the High Evolutionary, revealed that there was an alternate ending in which his character is actually shown to have survived the conclusion of the movie. The first deleted scene from the movie has finally been made public by Marvel, and it happens to be the one Iwuji spoke about in his alternate ending.
The Nigerian-British actor lately made an appearance on ComicBook.com’s Phase Zero podcast, where he discussed details about the movie’s alternate ending. And this was different from the one we saw in theaters.
“Well, let me just put it this way. I’m hoping you’ll see an extended version or maybe an alternate ending, you know, that we certainly did film. I mean the whole point in Marvel is that unless you see someone die they haven’t necessarily died and even if they do die what does that mean in the multiverse, right?”
And the 47-year-old actor further revealed:
“But, the point is that Rocket doesn’t shoot me. They make a point of saying why don’t you kill him and he says no, I’m not going to kill him. And you don’t actually see me go down with the ship. So, I’ll just leave it at that.”
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Deleted Scene: Fans’ Reaction
James Gunn‘s long-rumored villain twist has now been confirmed with the release of the deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
According to IGN, the scene depicts High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) being imprisoned by Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) on Knowhere following their epic interstellar battle. The 56-year-old filmmaker once again wrote and directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Additionally, the alternate scene will be made available “in the extras,” according to Guardians of the Galaxy 3’s director. He even said the High Evolutionary is held captive on Knowhere in a subsequent tweet. The good news has made it more likely that the villain will eventually make a comeback in the MCU.
No formidable superhero is complete without an evil foe. Furthermore, Chukwudi Iwuji served as the perfect antagonist in the MCU with his portrayal of the High Evolutionary, who embodies all the negative traits.
High Evolutionary’s return was unexpected for some people while not necessary for others. However, his uncertain fate in the deleted scenes ignited some new responses from fans, with one saying:
