Sandra Bullock Was Almost Considered For Jurassic Park

Being a new actor in the Hollywood industry is never easy. It was the unfortunate luck of Sandra Bullock that during the production of the 1993 movie, the actress did not have many movies to her name. Bullock was still trying to find her footing when the casting call for Jurassic Park came and yet, she was still considered for the role of the lead character Dr. Ellie Sattler.

Since Dr. Sattler was going to be featured heavily throughout the movie, the role was to be given to a strong and credible actress. Sandra Bullock, at that time, was not famous and was featured in small roles in television series or some movies. According to trivia, the casting team considered Sandra Bullock in the lead role!

After some pretty heavy consideration, the role of Dr. Ellie Sattler was given to Laura Dern who had already established herself as a credible actress with several iconic movies to her name. The choice of casting Laura Dern couldn’t have been any better as she was praised around the world for her role. It was unfortunate for the Speed actress not to get the role but the actress would go on to shine in the 1994 blockbuster Speed while starring alongside Keanu Reeves.

After finding a strong footing in Hollywood, Sandra Bullock found fame and iconic roles throughout her career. Having the courage to talk to other actors comfortably, she once gifted Ben Affleck a box of mints because his breath smelled of cigarettes.

Starring together in the 1999 movie Forces of Nature, the actress had to kiss Affleck in a scene. She wasn’t able to get through the scene because Ben Affleck’s breath smelled of cigarettes. As per the sources, the Gravity star went ahead and gifted Affleck a box of mints for his breath! The scene later on went ahead as planned and Bullock and Affleck added one more movie to their portfolio.

As for Jurassic Park, the movie was made with a budget of $63 million, went on to earn almost a billion dollars worldwide. The iconic Steven Spielberg movie which almost had Sandra Bullock in it, is available to stream on Peacock TV in the U.S.
