I’m sure you’ve probably heard by now that Starfield is one of the most ambitious video games ever made. It’s vast, gorgeous, and deeply rich in lore and story. Bethesda’s next massive RPG is only a couple of days away, and fans can’t wait to see what the studio has been working on for so long for the Xbox Series X/S consoles.
But as it turns out, Bethesda Game Studios was assisted by some relatively smaller studios to help in the development of the massive space odyssey game. What makes the prospect of Starfield even more exhilarating is that these studios are already well known for excellent work, so just knowing that some of these devs worked on the title is quite exciting.

The Studios That Helped Make Starfield
As reported by Twitter/X user, @Klobrille, there were a total of four different studios that aided in the production and development of Starfield. These studios are id Software, MachineGames, Arkane Studios, and finally Xbox Game Studios ATG (Advanced Technology Group).
These studios offered varying degrees of assistance particularly in the first-person aspect of the game. All in all, they came together to make an incredible gaming experience.
id Software
This studio probably needs no introduction. The masterminds behind the Doom franchise know better than anyone how to make an FPS game. Starfield could definitely take some pointers from id Software’s previous successes and implement similar systems to create a cohesive first-person experience.
id Software has made incredible franchises such as Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein. All three of the games from these series have first-person perspectives. It’s clear why id Software was one of the right studios to call when making a game like Starfield.
MachineGames
MachineGames has also built quite a resumè, particularly when it comes to the Wolfenstein series. The studio has developed multiple titles in the franchise, namely The New Order, The Old Blood, The New Colossus, Youngblood, and Cyberpilot.
It’s safe to say the people over at MachineGames know their craft well, as almost all of these games have garnered an overall positive response. The studio’s expertise definitely contributed a lot to Starfield’s development.
Arkane Studios
That name probably rings a sad bell, as Arkane’s recent endeavour with Redfall ended up falling short for most fans. But Arkane Studios is still an excellent and very talented company that, when given the time and resources, can make an incredible first-person shooter.
Arkane is responsible for Dishonoured, Prey, and Deathloop, games that have gotten positive reviews from both critics and users. Arkane Studios has the capability of making an incredible FPS game, and it’s clear why the studio was chosen to work on Starfield.
Xbox Game Studios ATG (Advanced Technology Group)
All the previous named studios are owned by Bethesda, but this one is Microsoft’s very own. Their main goal is to make sure Xbox games are as optimized as possible so they work on the Xbox consoles. Currently, the studio is helping Larian Studios port Baldur’s Gate 3 over to the Xbox Series X/S consoles.
All of these studios have provided a helping hand in shaping what Starfield has become today. Every studio mentioned here is talented in its own right and probably brought something unique to the Starfield table, and their efforts shall not go unrecognised.
