What did Todd Howard Say Regarding Starfield and It’s Inspiration?
For a long time, many gamers have been eagerly awaiting the release of Starfield, but not as long as the developers have been waiting. Todd Howard, the director, has always had an interest in space, ever since his brother was born on the same day that Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. And ever since that moment, Todd has had some form of interest in space.
Since working with Bethesda, Howard has been a part of some amazing projects by having his hand in fantasy, helping create the Elder Scrolls series, all the way to the post-apocalyptic Fallout series. But now he has progressed into space and worked to create such a unique universe for players to the point where he is now being called the Christopher Nolan of the gaming industry.
Over the past eight years, Howard has painstakingly worked with Bethesda to create Starfield, and now that it is finally released, it is like a weight off his shoulders. Todd has said, “we couldn’t have conceived or made a game like Starfield before.” It is such a big part of Bethesda and the work that has been put into making the game, the longer the development went on, the more they worried it would never release.
How Does Todd Howard Feel Now That Starfield Has Released?
Throughout the many years of development, Todd Howard has said,
“We needed to grow. Even then, it took far longer than we thought it would. The longer the journey you go on, the harder it is to maintain.“
This shows us he was worried the game would struggle to make it across that finish line, but they did make it, and now that it is released the team is overjoyed.
When talking about Starfield, Todd Howard explains that even though it was a challenge to develop the game over those eight years, he did see the title grow and slowly come together as he even play-tested the game himself. He saw the choices that were put to players, not just in where to go, but what to say, who to save, who to kill, and just who they might want to be in this futuristic space adventure.
For Todd Howard, Starfield will most likely be one of the most complex projects he has worked on in his entire life. Even though it took such a long time to develop the game, it also had such an impact on him as a person, as someone who grew up in love with space and now has the ability to fly through the stars and create unique stories.
