Starfield Finally Confirmed to get All-important Feature for Xbox and PC Players

After 25 years of development, Bethesda Game Studios is finally bringing Starfield to consoles and PC on September 6, 2023. If you are a Bethesda fan excited for the exclusive title to come out, there has been a recent report that could get you even more hyped. According to Starfield Beyond: News, Discussions & more, via Twitter/X, the title has been tagged as Xbox Play Anywhere. This would mean that when you purchased Starfield you will own the Xbox and PC version. The user, @starfieldbeyond explains such in the following:

“CONFIRMED: The Xbox Play Anywhere tag has just been added to #Starfield’s store page.

That means;

You will own both an Xbox and PC version at no additional cost.

Your save will seamlessly carry over to PC, Xbox and Cloud.”

Starfield has gained much popularity and attention over its considerably massive environment compared to previous Bethesda games. It will require 125 GB of space just to download the upcoming title and the main campaign portion of the map is 20% bigger compared to Skyrim and Fallout 4. The world itself is said to have more than 1,000 explorable planets, although Todd Howard revealed to gamers only 10% of these will contain life.

Given the massive scale Starfield is pushing in the open world RPG, and it only makes sense for the title to transfer from Xbox to PC. This allows more gamers a chance to continue their progress, no matter where they find themselves. As modern gaming continues to become more accessible to players, it is encouraging Howard and other development teams to strive for larger gameplay. The more time that can be spent playing a title, the more likely developers are going to believe they can push the size.

Are Video Games Like Starfield Becoming Too Large Or Should PC/Console Ownership Be the New Normal?

The benefit of owning Starfield for PC and Xbox is that gamers will be able to be more practical with their play time. Those who may have a desktop PC can keep their console in another room, and jump between the two as desired. And the option of dual ownership provides the opportunity to keep players on Starfield, willing to explore the sizable title.

Those who have a more portable gaming laptop might also appreciate the flexibility of Starfield being on Xbox and PC. They can leave the Xbox at home when they travel and still continue the same progress they made on the PC version.

This has led to an overall question of whether more games should be accessible on a variety of systems. The Starfield dual ownership through Xbox Play Anywhere will make it easier to play at any time, which could be good for Bethesda as it plans to expand through DLC and other means. Even Sony PlayStation has been trying to make their titles more accessible with Project Q.

Giant video game companies are looking to more tech that could help them compete with systems like the Nintendo Switch and other consoles that make travel and gaming more convenient. As Microsoft continues in its attempt to dominate over console competition, it is unsurprising the company wants to keep its exclusive game in the hands of as many players as possible.

What do you think of Starfield being playable on Xbox and PC? Is this a feature you will be utilizing when the game comes out in September? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts.
