The exciting announcements made at the Star Wars Celebration in London brought delight to fans, and one of the treats they got was the official trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka, the much-awaited spin-off series starring Rosario Dawson. Several upcoming projects also headlined the event, including James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi.
The Ahsoka series will also feature Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior and revolutionary leader first seen in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. It was announced last year at the Star Wars Celebration that the Australian actress would join the team.
Natasha Liu Bordizzo Is Game And Ready For Sabine Wren’s Debut In Ahsoka Series
In an interview with ComicBook, Natasha Liu Bordizzo discussed the rigorous training and intense preparation she had to undertake to gear up for the role:
“It took a very long time. It took months and months, and I’m so glad we had the time because it would have sucked to come in late and then try to rush to be at the level that I wanted to be at. So, it took a long time and I think that the hardest part was probably just doing it justice because you just don’t want it to not be anything but awesome. So, reaching that level physically takes its time.”
Bordizzo is also enthusiastic about reprising the role if the series become a successful franchise and renewed for future sequels:
“If we get Season 2, I’m training from now, the minute it’s announced, that I’ll be like back in that, I love it.”
Joining the cast of Ahsoka meant a lot for the actress. She shared during last year’s official announcement of the series at the Star Wars Celebration (via The Pop Verse):
“I feel like I’ve been adopted into a new family. I feel like that with everyone I work with but also the fans. I have never experienced anything like this. I know how much Sabine means to a lot of people in this room, and watching Rebels, she’s come to mean a hell of a lot to me too. I think you guys are going to be really excited about the journey she’s about to have.”
Aside from Dawson and Bordizzo, the show will also feature Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn, David Tennant as Huyang, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Ray Stevenson as Baylin, and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin.
Further Updates About Ahsoka And Other Star Wars Projects
Dave Filoni is set to helm multiple episodes of Ahsoka, alongside other directors such as Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
There is also a report that Hayden Christensen will possibly appear in the series as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. The news came after the actor was confirmed to return as the famed character in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Filoni will also be directing an upcoming Star Wars movie that would serve as the crossover of the significant events in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
Star Wars: Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ this August.
