Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise’s love story is widely recognized in the Hollywood industry. From being the doting couple to now estranged exes, they had quite a journey. Even after their relationship has become the past, it still remains a subject of attention for many across the world. During their time together, the duo has even worked on a few projects including an erotic drama film that got enlisted among the greatest films of the 1990s.
During their relationship, the duo worked together in the 1999 film, Eyes Wide Shut with the former sharing some behind-the-scenes details. During the segment, she talked about how the film director “coaxed” her into doing explicit scenes with her then-beau.
Stanley Kubrick Persuaded Nicole Kidman in Doing S*x With Tom Cruise
The 55-year-old actor, Nicole Kidman in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter opened up about working with the director, Stanley Kubrick in the 1999 film, Eyes Wide Shut. She co-starred with her then-husband, Tom Cruise in the film.
The film was an immense success but she opened up about getting involved with some “extreme” scenes. It happened as the film director provoked her to do the explicit scenes with her then-husband however it was not released in the film.
She shared,
“Stanley had to coax me into some of the sexuality in the film in the beginning, but we shot things that were a lot more extreme that didn’t end up in the movie.”
She further added about how the film director treated her differently,
“I did feel safe — I never felt it was exploitive or unintelligent. He was very different with women than he was with men. He has daughters, so he was very paternal with me.”
The former couple liked working in the film which was the final film Kurbrick helmed before his demise.
Nicole Kidman’s Whooping Pay for Eyes Wide Shut
Being the lead female in the 1999 film, she was paid a whopping salary of $6.5 million for her role as Alice Harford in Eyes Wide Shut. It grossed $162 million, making it Kubrick’s highest-grossing film.
The actress also opened up about her relationship with Cruise on and off the screen. She shared that many people had concerns over the former couple’s relationship as they thought working in the film would mean “the end of my marriage, but I don’t really think it was.”
The film was a great bridge in making their relationship strong however it didn’t last much. Cruise filed for divorce in 2001 from her, citing irreconcilable differences for the split. However, reports later on claimed that their breakup was likely the involvement of The Church of Scientology.
