Spider-Man 3: Two New Roles Revealed; Two More Cast Members Confirmed to Return

MCU’s untitled Spider-Man 3 is turning out to be this massive event film. Don’t be surprised if it ends up being the biggest movie of 2021 just because of the massive cast it packs. Benedict Cumberbatch is coming back as Doctor Strange. Among the regular franchise characters, we have Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau and probably Jake Gyllenhaal making their return. Besides them, The Illuminerdi has reported that Martin Starr and Hannibal Buress are confirmed to reprise their roles as Mr. Harrington and Coach Wilson respectively.

By now, you’d probably know that Martin Starr’s Mr. Harrington is the same pizza guy we saw in The Incredible Hulk. Hannibal Buress did not get to return in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but it is good to know that he will be back as Coach Wilson in Spider-Man 3. Although, we shouldn’t expect these two characters to play major roles due to the kind of cast that the film packs. They’d probably have just a few scenes in Peter’s Midtown School of Science and Technology.

As for the new additions, we’ve already reported that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are supposed to return as Spider-Men from their own universes. Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone are also said to be back as Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy respectively. But, the announcement of Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock making their comeback was the real eye opener. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is also rumored to appear. Furthermore, Willem Dafoe and Thomas Hayden Church are also in talks to join as Green Goblin and Sandman from the Raimi trilogy.

And to add to this roster, The Illuminerdi has reported the addition of two new roles. The first is of an unnamed “Agent,” who’d be an intimidating male or a female. They wrote that “the actor should ideally be strong in theater, the crew is considering all ethnicities,” The casting team wants the character to look and feel like someone from New York.

The second character will be a “Detective.” The casting team is flexible with the age range and they are looking at the likes of Nathaniel Martello White, Michael K Williams, and Marwan Kenzari for the part.

Both these mystery characters will possibly be related to Peter Parker’s identity crisis. They could be the ones with the responsibility to track down Peter Parker while he’s on the run. We’ve got to wait and see how things turn out. Spider-Man 3 arrives on December 17, 2021.
