Being such a beloved actor, his recent diagnosis has fans devastated and worried about his health. However, recent Instagram posts have eased this worry a bit as Willis celebrates his first Father’s Day with his granddaughter.
Bruce Willis Celebrates Father’s Day with Family
In a recent Instagram post, Bruce Willis’ daughter, Rumer Willis, shared a picture of her father and her eight-week-old daughter, Louetta Isley, celebrating their first Father’s Day together. In this post, Willis is holding his granddaughter while the caption talks about how momentous this occasion is for their family.
“Fathers to the old and new. Seeing my father hold my daughter today was something I will treasure for the rest of my life,” Rumer Willis says in the post. “His sweetness and love for her was so pure and beautiful. Papa I’m so lucky to have you and so is Lou. Thank you for being the silliest, most loving, coolest Daddio a girl could ask for. Best Girl Dad in the game….” She said.
She went on to congratulate her boyfriend, Derek Richard Thomas, on his first celebration of the holiday as a father himself. Father’s Day also happened to fall on the 45th birthday of Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, who also posted on Instagram, sharing the occasion with the public.
“Father’s Day is a time I get to reflect on my deep appreciation and respect I have for Bruce as I watch him, father, our little ones,” she says. “Where it might not be ‘conventional,’ what he’s teaching them will span generations. Unconditional love, kindness, strength, compassion, patience, generosity, resilience.” She went on to add, “Happy Father’s Day to the greatest dad I know, who will forever be the gift that keeps giving within our family.”
In this post, she shared a picture of Willis with his eleven-year-old daughter, Mabel. She also talked about how grateful she is to have him in his life as well as admiring him as a father. She added that his methods of teaching may not be normal, she adores the lessons he has taught their children.
Bruce Willis Walking Away From Acting After Aphasia Diagnosis
In 2022, Bruce Willis’ family announced that the actor was diagnosed with Aphasia, a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate. Following this, the family also announced that the actor would be stepping away from acting. In February of this year, however, the family released a statement that revealed that Willis’ condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia. Though this diagnosis was difficult for them, they were glad to be clear about what the actor’s condition was.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD),” a family statement reads. “Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
They added that they are trying their best to keep the actor happy and comfortable. They also stated that they will continue to be public about his health, to raise awareness about the condition. They also added that Willis would want nothing more than to use his voice to help others who are struggling like him.
