Just like faraway galaxies are ever expanding, similarly, the Star Wars franchise keeps spreading its roots with new content for the fanatics. Coming up with the 2022 series Andor, starring Andy Serkis as Kino Loy, the show explores the general timeframe, 5 years prior to the events between the original Star Wars trilogy and the prequels.
Although Tony Gilroy’s critically acclaimed Andor has been a hit series, Andy Serkis expresses his concerns regarding his appearance as Kino Loy. Previously portraying the role of sinister Supreme Leader Snoke in the Star Wars trilogy, Serkis expressed concerns about his further appearance as Loy in Andor.
Andy Serkis Appears In Star Wars Franchise’s Andor
Known for his breathtaking performance as the villainous Snoke in the first two films of the Star Wars trilogy, Andy Serkis further appeared in Tony Gilroy’s 2022 series Andor. Bringing out his legendary performance like always, Serkis surprises his audience with his stunning role in the 8th episode of the show, Narkina 5.
Centering around the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character Cassian Andor, Tony Gilroy’s critically acclaimed series Andor expands the Star Wars universe. Setting the story in the year 5 BBY, the show helps its audience to create a connection with the Star Wars timeline. The events in Andor take place 5 years prior to the events that occurred between the original trilogy and its prequels.
Although the series has a different backdrop and is set way before the general timeframe of events, Andy Serkis‘ appearance as Kino Loy still makes it confusing for his audience. Previously playing a different role in the Star Wars universe, Serkis’ role as Loy in another part of the same universe seems to be a little too much to fathom.
Concerned how fans might draw a bizarre connection between Snoke and Kino Loy, Andy Serkis expressed his opinions.
Andy Serkis’ Two Different Characters In Star Wars Franchise
Andy Serkis is quite clear about his appearance as Kino Loy in Andor. Captivating his audience with a role that sets him apart from his other performances, Serkis discussed his journey from Snoke to Loy. Releasing the specialty of the show, the actor spoke about his relationship with the Star Wars franchise. Beginning with his concerns about the connections that fans might attempt to make between his two characters, Serkis clarified the doubt.
“Actually, when I was approached, I was quite trepidacious because I was thinking, there were so many Snoke theories over the years that I’d had to duck and dive and avoid, and then I just thought, ‘Oh no, this is gonna be a nightmare because people are gonna think Kino Loy is somehow associated with Snoke, and I’m gonna have to talk around the houses”. Andy Serkis stated.
Distinctly differentiating the two characters played by him, Serkis mentioned, despite his explanation if fans still come up with Snoke and Kino’s theories, they might get tucked away with the rest of Snoke theories.
“With every single character in Andor, there is such depth and humanity, and they are flawed, and the way that Cassian weaves his way through this incredible heroic journey through kind of experiencing all of these extraordinary characters,” Serkis stated.
Carefully explaining Tony Gilroy‘s description of his character and the arc, Serkis praised Gilroy’s construction of characters in the series.
