Brad Pitt is among the prominent actors in the Hollywood industry and the reason is clear to everyone! Having gained recognition for his role as a cowboy hitchhiker in the 1991 film, Thelma & Louise (1991), he quickly became a rising star in the 1990s with his hit films like Seven and 12 Monkeys. The next decade was quite promising for him as he continued to charm his audience with his acting skills.
While his acting skills were on par, it sometimes gets a bit quirky when someone directs him to do something in a certain way. Something similar happened with Quentin Tarantino who tried to boss Pitt around.
Quentin Tarantino Got Candid About Directing Brad Pitt in Their 2019 Film
The 60-year-old actor, Quentin Tarantino in an appearance on Amy Schumer’s 3 Girls, 1 Keith podcast via PEOPLE recalled the time when he was filming a famous scene in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. The 2019 film featured an ensemble cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie.
Recalling a scene of Pitt when his character, Cliff Booth stripped off his retro Champion T-shirt while fixing an antenna, he shared how his direction didn’t work on him. He tried to tell him to rip off that t-shirt in a certain way but it did not execute like the way he was directing.
“It was funny because actually in public Brad is kind of shy about things like that.” He continued, “At the same time, he knows exactly what time it is.”
He continued to explain,
“I go, ‘So, I’m thinking maybe you unbutton the Hawaiian shirt, and you peel that off, and then peel off the Champion T-shirt.’ He was like, ‘Really? You want me to go through all that button bullsh*t? I’ll just take it off in one bit. Go!’”
Given his incredible record of stripping himself in the film, he was quite confused as to how exactly to go with all that hassle that Tarantino wanted him to do in the sequence. However, it eventually happened with the filmmaker understanding that he was the one who need to back out.
Brad Pitt Eventually Did What He Was Good At!
While the filmmaker had doubts over whether the Bullet Train actor be able to fully execute the sequence or not, he eventually took a step back and let the actor be in charge of it.
The actor has already quite an experience in appearing as shirtless in movies like Fight Club, Troy, and Allied which is why he did what he felt was right.
Tarantino stated in the podcast,
“Shut the f—k up and let the master do his job! Even when you see him in the work shed and the way he puts on the leather gloves and puts the wire in his mouth all butch and macho. He just knows what time it is.”
The film was a critical and commercial success as it grossed $374 million worldwide. Not just that, the film received praise from critics for almost every element of the film. Having been nominated for 10 Oscars, the film eventually took away 2 awards.
