However, fans feel that Bassett is rather underappreciated. The major reason behind fans thinking this is the fact that Angela Bassett lost her Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever earlier this year. Moreover, the fact that the Oscars has finally decided to appreciate Bassett and give her an honorary Oscar has made fans even more outraged.

Angela Bassett is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. After making her first appearance on the big screen in 1985 in the movie Doubletake, where she played the role of a prostitute, Bassett finally made her debut in the film industry as a TV reporter in 1986 in the movie F/X.

However, fame did not come to Angela Basset easily. The now 64-year-old actress had to go through many highs and lows to finally get her much-needed fame in 1991 and 1992 for her movies Boyz n the Hood and Malcolm X, for which she even earned awards.

Bassett’s Oscar nomination game started in 1993 when she got nominated for roleplaying Tina Turner in the biopic movie What’s Love Got to Do With It? Unfortunately, the Oscar nomination remained just a nomination as she lost her award to none other than Holly Hunter.

What’s worse is that something similar happened to Angela Bassett earlier this year as she got nominated for an Oscar for ‘best supporting actress’ for playing the role of Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, once again, fans were left disappointed as the Black Panther actress once again lost the award to Jamie Lee Curtis for her part in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Angela Bassett losing her second Oscar nomination as well got her fans much outraged about the situation, the reason behind this being that the Black Panther actress was, no doubt, the front-running actress for the Oscar.

However, what infuriated fans more was the fact that the Oscars had decided to give Basset an honorary Oscar this year at the Governor’s Awards, finally after 30 years of being in the film industry.

Bassett’s angry fans took to Twitter to share how they truly felt about this situation and this is what they have to say:

Sharing their opinions on the situation, fans also remarked how Angela Bassett played a fantastic role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which was more than deserving of an Oscar.
