The Austrian-American actor and former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger rose to fame with the films like The Terminator and Predator. He made his way into Hollywood after conquering the bodybuilding world and was soon able to take over the big screen as well with his incredible performance and chiseled physique. However, it was not the first time he was put in front of the camera.
Before his Hollywood career, Schwarzenegger was featured in several sports documentaries, one of them being the 1977 docudrama Pumping Iron, which focused on the world of professional bodybuilding. It was based on a book of the same name, and it also featured the actor with model Heidi Sutter. During his recent interview, The Terminator star talks about the model sharing that he is still friends with her.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is Still in Contact With Heidi Sutter
The 1974 book called Pumping Iron is believed to introduce bodybuilding to the mainstream. Charles Gaines and George Butler worked on a book that also featured multiple pictures of bodybuilders, along with multiple articles. Some of these pictures also featured Arnold Schwarzenegger with a model Heidi Sutter.
The pictures featured the model with the actor topless, and during his recent interaction with The Atlantic, the actor shared that he is still friends with Heidi Sutter. As he visited the Gold’s Gym in Venice, the actor said, “Say hi to Heide. She is a landmark.”
Talking about the 82-year-old Heide Sutter, the Commando actor explained that she was the girl sitting on his shoulders in the Pumping Iron book. “She was topless in the shot,” he added. The book was among some of the bestsellers at the time and was also pretty well-reviewed.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Was Dissatisfied With Bodybuilding
Apart from his stardom in Hollywood, Arnold Schwarzenegger has a prominent place in bodybuilding as well. He has won Mr. Olympia seven times and has won Mr. Universe four times. However, he slowly started being dissatisfied with how things were going. The Twins star shared that he has been eager to try new things from a very young age.
It was also one of the reasons he opted for a career in bodybuilding. However, constantly winning the competition, the actor Mr. Oylmpia felt the same relentlessness for bodybuilding while standing on a stage in South Africa. He said, “I looked around and said to myself, I’ve got to get out of this.” After this, he tried his luck in Hollywood and started his acting career with Conan the Barbarian.
