It is not new to hear that a celebrity had a strange encounter with something paranormal and the internet’s boyfriend, Keanu Reeves is no different. Although it is understandable as they tend to travel and live in all kinds of places and situations for their work, which sometimes includes paranormal themes, it is still shocking, to say the least.
However, even though a lot of them experience those encounters on set, there are a few who go through them way earlier in their lives. Gigi Hadid, Devi Lovato, and Keanu Reeves, all of them experienced some sort of paranormal activity in their childhood.
With Keanu Reeves not only experienced it as a child but later on went on to reprise somewhat of a similar incident in one of the most iconic movies of his career.
Keanu Reeves saw an invisible ghost as a child
The incident happened when Keanu Reeves just moved to New York from Australia with his family when he was just about 6 or 7 years old. One day, he was playing in his room with his nanny, with his younger sister sleeping beside them.
Suddenly, according to Reeves, he saw a jacket move inside their room, although there wasn’t any corporeal body accompanying it.
He explained that he only saw it for a split second before it disappeared into thin air. And being a kid he merely thought of it as fascinating, up until he looked back at his nanny, Renata. The much older woman, however, was pale with fear by the incident.
And in his young mind, that’s when it clicked that it was indeed a spooky event. He spoke about this very incident in an interview once. Elaborating the situation further he said,
“I was a little kid, and I thought, ‘Okay, that’s interesting,’ and I looked over at the nanny, and she was making this terrified face. And I’m like, ‘Oh, wow, so that was real.'”
Although the situation clearly did not particularly scare him at the time of it happening, as he claimed, now though, looking back on it he still seems to get goosebumps.
Keanu Reeves reprised a similar paranormal experience in Constantine
Apart from John Wick, and The Matrix, Constantine has to be Keanu Reeves’ most popular movie ever. And interestingly, this paranormal-action film saw him reprising a similar incident, albeit raised to the maximum of what he experienced as a child.
Apparently, Reeves’ character John Constantine, after a horrific attempt to commit suicide to stop himself from seeing otherworldly entities around, lands in Hell.
However, he was revived and tasked with exorcising demons who try to invade Earth by possessing people. Unfortunately, his trip to Hell also landed him with lung cancer, and when he finally dies either through his disease or trying to fight off supernatural forces, he will again end up in Hell.
Thankfully, though, after a lot of complications and fights with demons and angels alike, Lucifer himself comes to Earth to collect him when he, again, tries to commit suicide but to save someone else.
And then, as usual, an ego battle between God and Lucifer starts when The Almighty tries to sneak Constantine into Heaven for his selfless act. And well, Lucifer gets angry and revives him again and even removes his cancer this time around for good measure as he is sure that Constantine himself would prove that he belongs in Hell.
And now, interestingly after years of this cult favorite of 2005, Keanu Reeves is all set to reprise the cynical occultist character once again in Constantine 2. Something, that his fans seem tremendously happy about.
Constantine 2 is confirmed to be in development but no release date has yet been disclosed.
