While the $98M movie Bird Box received amazing streaming responses on Netflix, what got more popular was Sandra Bullock’s flawless acting, especially in the blindfold scenes. In one scene, Bullock had to mount a rescue blindfolded, and the actress gave it her all.

As shared by the director Susanne Bier, the Oscar winner went to great lengths while filming the horror/sci-fi movie. Apparently, for the blindfold scenes, Bullock asked to be blindfolded for real. Describing her extreme dedication, Bier said,

“Right from the very beginning Sandra said she wanted to wear the blindfold for real, she didn’t want to see. She even spent time with a blind man who teaches other blind people how to navigate. He said there is a certain sound that spaces make. It is a technique blind people learn to help them move around and Sandra wanted to learn that technique. We’d rehearse without a blindfold but for the scenes, Sandra was adamant she wanted to be blindfolded for real.”

This courageous move on Bullock’s side left even her critics amused as her extreme commitment to filming Bird Box outclassed even Charlie Cox‘s blindfold fight scene in Marvel’s TV series Daredevil.

Although Sandra Bullock’s extreme dedication was perfectly portrayed by her will to fully adapt to her character, however, her commitment didn’t just stop there as she got severely injured while filming a scene. Recalling the incident, Bier said,

“She [Sandra Bullock] did walk into a camera once and was bleeding from a cut but she carried on.”

Just like that, Sandra Bullock further proved just how incredible and hard-working an actress she is. Nonetheless, the Oscar winner’s hard work certainly paid off, judging how Bird Box became the most streamed movie on Netflix within 28 days of its release.
