Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara, after redefining what it actually takes to make a happy life together for seven years, came forward with the somber news this month. According to reports, the duo had been living unhappily with each other for a considerably long time but didn’t let people find out about it.
Paparazzi spotted the Modern Family actress hanging out in Italy and celebrating as she turned 51 on July 10, but Manganiello wasn’t there. Rumors about their separation began doing the rounds on social media when it was discovered that she didn’t even have her wedding ring on.
Did Joe Manganiello Hint About His Divorce Way Back?
Sources close to the estranged couple told that they could not make it work because of their constant bickering behind closed doors. Manganiello, however, hinted in a 2018 appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show that Vergara was the polar opposite of him.
Vergara didn’t enjoy Joe Manganiello’s adventure sports stories and put him off, as the latter said, by saying –
“She’ll say things to me like, ‘How about I go in my closet and I bring back a tray of my earrings, and I talk to you about them for the next half an hour.’”
But, just before reporters could make some sense out of his statement, he brought up how he and his then-wife loved their little chihuahua.
Could Bubbles Have Caused Them To File For Divorce?
Joe Manganiello often posts pictures of the little chihuahua – Bubbles, that he shares with Sofia Vergara and it is being reported that she may have been the reason for their divorce.
Vergara loves her little pup, but couldn’t stand her being extremely possessive of Manganiello. Vergara told Ellen DeGeneres two years ago,
“She has taken my husband, my bed. They sleep together, and I sleep there on the other side.”
Sources have also indicated that Manganiello is battling for the custody of Bubbles with Vergara. Manganiello told Jimmy Fallon that she can’t tolerate anyone else except him.
“I pick her up, and then she starts growling at everybody else, like, ‘Get away from us.’”
Vergara, according to People magazine, has asked reporters to not cover their separation with too much enthusiasm and urged them to respect her privacy.
For now, it is unclear what exactly drove them apart, but insiders claim that the duo had been attracted to each other physically. And that doesn’t work out in the long run.
Joe Manganiello recently starred alongside Channing Tatum in Magic Mike’s Last Dance which was released back in February.
