Revealing what goes on behind the scenes, the actor mentioned the role played by his wife, Pauletta Washington. Discussing how she helps him to cry, Washington mentioned a bizarre way of opening his watergates.

During the interview with Variety, the actor opened up about how his wife helps him bring out real tears for his scenes.

What is your method of getting the single teardrop in movies?” the Variety interviewer asked. To which Washington replied with ease, “my wife stands off camera and she slaps the taste out of my mouth, right on action”. Laughing hard while explaining the process that goes on behind the scenes, the actor further discussed the entire process with his audience. 

Today you actually got the real scoop. They say rolling and she starts winding up. Speed, camera and I lift my chin up like that and action [POW].” Denzel Washington explained.

Giving a quick answer to the interviewer’s question and further explaining the process, Washington concluded his statement by saying, “She slaps me I tear!”. Laughing and smirking throughout the interview, Denzel Washington moved on with other questions and went on entertaining his audience with his quick replies.
