Irish actor, Pierce Brosnan played James Bond in the Bond film series, starring from 1995 to 2022, justifying every aspect of the iconic 007 role. During his time in the tuxedo, Brosnan shared on-screen intimacy with ravishing Bond girls like Michelle Yeoh and Izabella Scorupco. However, his favorite to date remains Halle Berry, the evolved Bond girl in her iconic orange bikini.
Halle Berry’s Bond Girl Appearance Was James Bond’s Intellectual Equal
Halle Berry appeared as Pierce Brosnan‘s Bond girl, Jinx Johnson in the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day. During an interview, Brosnan confessed to being smitten by Berry, so much that he couldn’t stop awing over her beauty. The actor famously said:
“She is just a luscious girl with such a beautiful body and she’s a good woman, too. She has a great sense of her own s*xuality, so she knows it and she plays it.”
Apart from playing Bond’s intellectual equal and physical rival, Halle Berry is also remembered for her memorable orange bikini, something that was nothing short of stunning. The Oscar-winning beauty picked up Jinx Johnson’s role because it was the evolved version of Bond Girl.
Besides Halle Berry, Brosnan also showered praises on equally memorable Bond girls like Monica Bellucci, Teri Hatcher, and Uma Thurman. Directed by Lee Tamahori, the 2002 movie marked the James Bond franchise’s 40th anniversary.
Even though Die Another Day was criticized for its unoriginal plot, the movie became the highest-grossing James Bond film back then, making $431.9 million worldwide.
Halle Berry Became The Last Pierce Brosnan-Era Bond Girl!
While Brosnan was awed by Halle Berry’s beauty, it was the actress who found her role in Die Another Day extremely meaningful. During an interview, Halle Berry, who played Giacinta “Jinx” Johnson, expressed:
“I was really excited about Bond because that’s a franchise that’s iconic. It’s a part of film history, really, so to be a part of that franchise was very meaningful to me. And this version of a Bond woman was very different than any Bond woman I had seen before.”
When Barbara Broccoli came to me with the role, she explained that I would get to be a different kind – a new kind – of Bond girl. Which would allow me to be more active and sort of be… working alongside Bond in a new way, and that really excited me.”
Halle Berry also recalled “reimagining that great Ursula Anders scene“, and this role came as an opportunity to “pay homage to who she was and what this series was all about.” Halle Berry became the one last Brosnan-era Bond Girl!
