While some Hollywood stars refer to their co-stars as family and some even fall in love while working together, that is not the case for everyone. Jensen Ackles seems to have gone through a similar phase when he worked on the 2000 science fiction drama with Jessica Alba. The American actor shared his experience working with the Fantastic Four star on the 2000 show Dark Angel. Ackles shared how he was targeted by the lead star of the show and how he came up with ways to tackle Alba’s tactics.
Jessica Alba Teased Jensen Ackles During Dark Angel
Followed by the huge success of Titanic, James Cameron wanted to work on a TV series. After considering multiple genres, he and Charles H. Eglee decided on a science fiction drama, Dark Angel. The series follows Max Guevara, a genetically enhanced supersoldier who escaped from a covert military facility as a child.
The show featured Jessica Alba as the lead. And after a guest appearance in the first season of the show, Jensen Ackles officially joined the cast for Dark Angel season 2. However, he did not feel welcome on the set.
The Boys star shared his experience working with the Into the Blue star during his appearance on Inside You with Michael Rosenbaum. He shared that after he officially joined the show for season 2, he “got picked on by the lead.”
“I was the new, fresh face on the set who wasn’t really there in season one. I came in for one episode but then they wrote me in as a series regular for season two. I was the new kid on the block, and I got picked on by the lead.”
He described his relationship with Alba as “the worst kind of bickering a brother and sister could do.” Although the Good Luck Chuck star liked teasing Jensen Ackles, she did not have any hard feelings against him. And soon Ackles also came up with measures to tackle Jessica Alba’s teasing.
Jensen Ackles’ Measures to Overcome Jessica Alba’s Teasing
Jensen Ackles shared that Alba teased him for being the “pretty boy” on the set. However, he shared that she did not dislike him. The Buddy Games star shared that although they did go along at first, they developed a very good relationship while working on the show.
He shared that he came up with a technique to “fight fire with fire,” which helped them a lot to grow as co-stars and develop “mutual respect” toward each other. He said, “If she walked in we’d be all hugs. But she didn’t make it easy on me on set.”
He also shared how being the main star of the show at a young age put her under a lot of pressure. Ackles said that the L.A.’s Finest star was there for him when he went through a rough time. “My grandfather died while I was shooting it and she literally just walked into my trailer and held me for a half an hour,” he shared.
Although they faced troubles at first, Ackles has talked to his Dark Angel co-star and Alba has reportedly apologized for her behavior.
Dark Angel is available to stream on Disney+.
