Apart from his films’ global recognition, actor-director Ben Affleck is often in the news due to his dating life. Currently married to Jennifer Lopez, with whom he had a very public relationship in the early 2000s, the actor’s dating life has been fodder for many gossip columns.
His previous marriage and subsequent divorce from actress Jennifer Garner gained a lot of publicity. His short-lived relationship with Knives Out star Ana De Armas was also highly publicized. Last year, De Armas revealed the reason for the breakup.
Ben Affleck’s Publicized Dating Life
After his breakthrough role in Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused and in Kevin Smith’s Chasing Amy, Ben Affleck gained worldwide recognition after co-writing and co-starring with Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting. The coming-of-age drama brought the duo the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the film earned a whopping $225 million against a $10 million budget.
The actor has since starred in many blockbuster films and has collaborated with the likes of Michael Bay, David Fincher, Terrence Mallick, and Zack Snyder. He portrayed Batman in the DCEU, appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Justice League, and the most recent The Flash. He also won the Oscar for Best Picture when he directed the drama, Argo.
Apart from his films though, the actor constantly makes headlines due to his dating life. The actor’s personal life first made news when he was dating actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The pair even appeared in Shakespeare in Love, the romantic drama which won Paltrow a Best Actor Oscar. The couple had an on-off relationship and finally called it quits in 2000.
The actor was dating and eventually married actress Jennifer Garner. The two had a lengthy marriage and their personal life was widely publicized to the point where the couple tried to get a law barring paparazzi from taking pictures of their children. They separated in 2018, with Affleck mentioning that the divorce was one of his biggest regrets.
The actor is currently married to pop sensation and actress Jennifer Lopez. The two first dated in the early 2000s after they appeared in the box office bomb Gigili. The couple received extensive media coverage, with the pair being titled ‘Bennifer’. They called it quits in 2004 after being engaged, citing the extensive media attention as one of the reasons for their breakup. In 2021, they reunited and are now married.

Ben Affleck And Ana De Armas
Before his relationship with Lopez, Ben Affleck was also briefly involved with Cuban actress Ana De Armas. The couple was together through the Covid-19 lockdown and they too received excessive media attention. They meet during the filming of Deep Water and eventually started dating. However, they broke up in early 2021.
Speaking about the separation, an inside source told People magazine,
“She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be in Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles.Ben Aff”
Many reports had emerged regarding their separation. However, in an interview with Elle magazine in 2022, Ana De Armas dispelled all the rumors surrounding the relationship. The Cuban star, who is currently based out of New York, has mentioned that being in Los Angeles at the time and receiving constant media scrutiny really took a toll on her.
Explaining her views about the culture of LA, Ana De Armas said,
“It became a little bit too much. There’s no escape. There’s no way out… It’s always the feeling of something that you don’t have, something missing. It’s a city that keeps you anxious.”
The actress said that she had heard about the city from others before, but after experiencing it herself, she realized that it was not the place for her. She also revealed in the interview that the publicized nature of her relationship with Affleck was ‘horrible’ and was part of the reason why she left LA.
