Zachary Levi’s upcoming DCU movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods or Shazam 2 will be a DC spectacle to witness. With the various shakeups at the DC Studios by James Gunn and Peter Safran, Shazam 2 will also suffer an alleged major character death.
The mid-credit scene in the original 2019 movie Shazam! was supposed to turn into a full-fledged sequel but Henry Gayden, the co-screenwriter of the movie, feared a repetition of the first part. Amidst talking about the mid-credit scene of the last film, the writer teases that a major character death might follow Billy Batson in the upcoming sequel.
Shazam 2 Will Potentially Showcase A Major Character Death
With the character of Mister Mind and Sivana teaming up in the mid-credit scene the sequel to the 2019 movie was actually developed with these two in mind. Henry Gayden, the co-writer of Shazam! Fury of the Gods revealed in an interview what he originally had in mind.
While ignoring the mid-credit scene of Sivana teaming up with Mister Mind, Gayden feared that the originally intended sequel would be too much similar to the first part.
“There was a long period of developing [Shazam 2] and going down various alleys, like who the villain is, Sivana, Mister Mind, all these things that we did” said Gayden to Cinemablend.
He further continued, however, that there is one thing that separates the first movie and the sequel.
“But the one core thing that was there from the jump after the first movie was [that] the next story for [Shazam’s alter-ego] Billy [Batson] is, now that he has a family, how does he behave? And it is, now that he has it, he’s terrified to lose it.”
The last words hint at the potential death of one of the family members of Billy Batson aka Shazam. This could potentially be the breaking point between a mature Shazam and the kid that the people made him out to be.
Will Shazam And Black Adam Go Head-to-Head?
With some controversial statements that confused the fans even more Zachary Levi does not seem to clarify things further. In an answer that the people wanted to be sure about, Levi confessed that he doesn’t know what the future entails.
When asked whether Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Zachary Levi’s Batson will ever go to war with each other, here’s what the Shazam! actor told.
“That’s all so far above my pay grade,” Levi said. “I have no idea.”
With director David F. Sandberg doing everything in his power to save the movie from failure, Shazam! Fury of the Gods might be the deal-breaker of the DCU. The film is currently slated for a release date of 17th March 2023 in theaters across the world.
