While this was one of the theories that fans had come up with for Rhodey’s weird behavior, the show managed to pull this off in the most dramatic of ways.
While Nick Fury had his suspicions about Rhodey’s integrity and alliance, this was only fully confirmed when he eavesdropped on a conversation between Rhodes and Fury’s wife, Priscilla, who was also revealed to be a Skrull. Here, Fury overheard Don Cheadle’s character call a hit for him, after which it was revealed to the audience that Rhodey had been replaced by a Skrull and had been for the entirety of the show.
