Joker is considered one of the most influential movies to date. Despite the polarizing reviews from the critics, it was widely appreciated by the audience for its themes and Joaquin Phoenix’s performance. It had a significant impact on the masses and looks like Sean Strickland is also a victim of it as he reflected his thoughts on the 2019 movie.

Recently Sean Strickland was in Australia for the UFC 293 which was held at Qudos Bank Arena in Sidney between him and Israel Adesaneya. Before the championship, he created quite a fuss after passing certain controversial statements. Later he won the UFC Middleweight Championship by unanimous decision. However, according to Mirror, UFC President Dana White has announced a rematch to be given to Adesaneya.

As he was returning to Vegas, the MMA fighter took to his social media and shared his experience of watching Joker. According to the 32-year-old, it was mind-bending and was mentally very impactful for him.

The 2019 movie was quite a different take on the villain from what we have seen to date and the audience couldn’t stop praising it. Not only did it gross $1.07 billion but also won a series of accolades including two Academy Award wins for Joaquin Phoenix (Best Actor) and Hildur Guðnadóttir (Best Original Score).

The success of the movie also resulted in an upcoming sequel titled Joker: Folie à Deux which is to be released in 2024.

It would be fair to say that Joker: Folie à Deux is widely anticipated after the success of the first movie. It is set to be the first movie set under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Elseworlds banner. The Grammy Winner Lady Gaga’s addition to the cast of the movie as Harley Quinn is one of the core attractions of the movie. However, the fact that is constantly lingering in the minds of the fans is the fact that it’s a musical.

Many fans are quite confused with Todd Phillips’ idea of making this movie a musical thriller. While it can be understood that Lady Gaga’s involvement speaks for it, many details are yet to be unveiled. According to the reports, the movie will be largely set around the iconic Arkham Asylum. With a release planned for late 2024 and filming being completed, it is unlikely to be affected much by the ongoing strikes.

Joker has already set a mark with its achievements as one of the best R-rated movies ever made. Now it will be seen if the sequel can mimic the same success.

Joker can be streamed on Max, while the sequel is set to release on October 4, 2024.
