Yes, Henry Cavill is still our beloved Geralt of Rivia in the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher. Although due to the conflicting rumors and hurtful stories, Netflix made sure that people knew that Henry Cavill was indeed present in the third season of The Witcher.
With billboards, LASERs, and trademarks, Netflix went to great lengths to remind people that this was the last season of Cavill’s in the lead role. Already seeing a decline in numbers and The Witcher starting to lose its popularity, Netflix has indeed become paranoid about losing millions of fans…after Liam Hemsworth takes over.
Netflix Reminds The People That Henry Cavill Is Still Geralt!
During the post-production of season three of Netflix’s The Witcher, news broke out that Henry Cavill was leaving the franchise for good. With allegations of altering the story and not respecting the lore of the books, Cavill and the showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich had a fight that resulted in the Man of Steel actor leaving the franchise.
Although Cavill left the franchise, it was announced that the third season will have Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. Netflix stated that the third season will also be the last season of Cavill as Geralt of Rivia since Liam Hemsworth will take over as the new Geralt of Rivia from the 4th season of Netflix’s The Witcher.
Afraid of losing millions of fans, Netflix’s marketing strategy took a turn of desperation. In a Twitter post from the official account of The Witcher, there were 4 images seen of various places. The different locations had one thing in common, however, a reminder to the people that Henry Cavill is still Geralt of Rivia.
Fans weren’t left impressed either with Netflix’s attempt to get the numbers back as they trolled the streaming service pretty hard. From what fans say, Netflix ruined its own franchise by trying to appease a showrunner while removing Henry Cavill from the series. And with the OG Geralt of Rivia gone, Netflix has to show some desperation in hopes of getting the number back up.
Anya Chalotra Calls Henry Cavill As Her Family
With Cavill’s exit, his co-star Anya Chalotra, who portrays the character of Yennefer of Vengenberg is also disheartened. In her statements, Chalotra referred to Geralt as her family and stated that it is indeed hard to move on after working together for 5 years.
“That news was hard to take because he’s family. We’ve been together for five years. So for anyone to leave after working with someone for that long, we’re going to feel that loss. When we are all on set, we’re dedicated to playing these characters and bringing them to life in the best way. And that is exactly what I felt every day from Henry.”
With Henry Cavill still in the mix, The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix around the world. The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 is set for a release date of 27th July on Netflix.
